Alien chic: Cosmetics with a holographic effect
Text: Roxana Kiseleva
Although 90% of what beauty marketers sign the term "holographic", is not holographic (it is easy to identify an impostor: you see a rainbow - a holographic, there is no rainbow - not a holographic), we are happy with a new trend and are already imbued with it. It all started with the re-gaining momentum of nail art, followed by our minds and instagrams captured holographic lips, and now the beauty industry has forced everything to shimmer and shimmer. Except, perhaps, mascara. Thank you so much Christine, author of the Simply Nailogical channel, for the wonderful word "holosexual", thanks to her we can now identify ourselves a little more precisely.
Liquid shadows of Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Duo-Chrome
$24
The expansion of the line of liquid metallic shadows, from which literally everything lost their mind this winter, was not long in coming, and in March the brand introduced three new colors. From the predecessors, the novelty got firmness and ease of application, and duochrome shades arrived at the height of the popularity of the unicorn makeup. Since the launch of the shadow, they sold out hopelessly, and those who managed to get them tease the Internet with reviews full of enthusiasm. And a special thank you to the brand for honesty: Stila positioning its novelty as duochromes without any slyness, while some brands feel free to embrace and use the beautiful word "holographic".
Kevyn Aucoin Top Lip Coating
£24
Despite the fact that of the brand's new products, all attention was drawn away to itself by a beautiful highlighter with the neo- prefix in the name, which we add to the ingenuity, we would not recommend it to everyone. In the end, the trends are transient, and a palm-sized trendy highlighter is more useful to a makeup artist, and the average amateur will quickly regret about such a purchase. Better pay attention to Molten Lip Color top lip coating. The product is presented in two shades: blue Cyber Sky and lilac Cyber Opal. The ideal pair for the first will be dark lipsticks of the cold spectrum, the best is just black, and Cyber Sky itself will become the unbeaten makeup option for a party. Cyber Opal is hardly noticeable solo, but with cherry and wine lipstick it will add color depth and alien overflow.
Becca Prismatic Amethyst Shine Perfector Powder
£32
Becca Australians we love for the best products for the face: powder, primers and highlighters. Offering a complete set for a basic face makeup, the brand also does not remain aloof from fashion, so while everyone was going crazy about okologolografikam, Becca had an illuminating base and shining powder in lavender shades. Both the primer and highlighter are not for the brave and bold: they do not give fat highlights, but this is a worthy option for those who want to try the trend on themselves and not to remove the expensive jar in the closet before the best times. It will be cheaper if you buy Becca products in foreign online stores, for example at Cult Beauty, but have already managed to get to the Russian representative office of the brand.
Fake Nails Lime Crime
923 rubles
This season, the false nails finally went out of the “oh no, not this” category, and it seems that they are forever entrenched in the trend lists of the year. Which is great, because in addition to the odious variations on the subject of French manicure, the stores finally sell fake nails that you really want to wear. Apparently, Lime Crime is already tired of producing matte lipsticks of non-trivial colors, which in the end are still on sale, and have diluted their range with fresh ideas. A fashionable palette of Hi-Lite highlighters was recently presented in Russia, the semi-resistant Unicorn Hair paint is currently available only on the official website of the brand, and six options for patch nails of chromatic color can already be caught on ASOS. With what we advise to hurry, until the fashion for a holographic manicure did not have time to finally go into the sunset.
Bite Beauty Opal Crème Lipstick lipstick
$26
Bite Beauty is known for natural lip products with the most pleasant fragrances in the world, but, very sadly, the brand is represented exclusively in American Sephora (do not ask your girlfriends for magnetics, ask for Bite lipstick, this is the best souvenir). The brand is not afraid to use bold shades: you can find black, green, and lavender in their color range, the popularity of the unicorn’s tears has not gone unnoticed either. By itself, Opal on the lips is barely distinguishable: its trick is that it adds an icy shimmer to your lipstick, once so beloved by the manufacturers of cosmetics. Best of all, this shade is combined with plum and beet shades lipstick: it gives them a gloss of early zero, so if you are not embarrassed by comparisons with the grocery store saleswoman (and you will certainly hear them), take the Jam + Opal duet right away - especially since its price discounted is only ten dollars.
Porthole Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in Halo Shade
2300 rubles
Liquid portholes are one of the best-selling brands that marked the beginning of a trend for customizing tonal foundations. And no matter how popular their first launch, it seems that everything has fallen in love with Halo as soon as it was announced on the brand's instagram. In actual fact, Halo turned out to be not so much holo, but still unearthly beautiful. Like other products of the line, this shade is characterized by a high concentration of pigment, so if instead of bright highlights of a celestial color you want to get moonlight and nymph cheekbones, dilute it with a moisturizing or tonal cream. However, such cosmetics, in principle, is not designed to be embarrassed - act more boldly.
Glitter Lemonhead Spacepaste in the shade of Adult Film
$22
As a makeup trend, glitter died three weeks after Pat McGrath released the Lust 004 set, but holographic glitter is another story. Lemonhead is a Californian indie brand, its bestseller is spacepaste, glitter mixed in a gel base. Hue Adult Film Film label marks as holographic (and does not cheat) and promises the atmosphere of "Boogie Nights." It is important to understand that this product is not intended for use on the eyelids, and it is unlikely to fit the lips. If you believe instagram, the FDA warnings are carelessly ignored and glitters, except that they do not decorate the cornea now, but we recommend refraining from playing dangerous games and experimenting with face art instead. Here is the easiest way, well known to every regular clubbing disco: cut a stencil out of paper and decorate the cheek with a heart to tell the whole world about your love. Or just use Spacepaste as the ultimate highlighter - Jeffrey, for example, turned out pretty stylish.
Kat Von D Alchemist Palette
32$
Most eloquently about this palette says the fact that in the very first months after the start of sales it was almost impossible to buy. Let's be honest, this product is another example of how cosmetics manufacturers misinterpret the concept of "holographic effect" and derive great benefit from their little lies, but, anyway, this is a cool product. If you’ve gotten bored with the theme “not like everyone else” by highlighters, use the Alchemist Palette as eye shadow or over dark lipstick, for example black, to give shades the maximum expression. For Russia, the brand Kat Von D still remains inaccessible, but in this case it’s somehow not at all a pity to pay the intermediary.
Brushes Spectrum from the Siren series
From £ 39.99
Last season, even knives and forks were adapted to make holographic, so elegant brushes for princes and princesses did not have to wait long either. The Spectrum brand is well known to make-up artists all over the world, in particular, thanks to the instagram: brushes with “mermaid” hair from the Siren series are among the most photogenic on the market. The work of the brush also will not let you down: in its price category, the Spectrum is in no way inferior to the wildly popular Zoeva, Morphe or Sigma - the same quality, only ten times more fun. The Siren series includes three sets to choose from: for make-up of the face, eyes and a complete set for everything at once. All products of the brand are marked as "cruelty free" and vegans will definitely like it: the brush nap is made only of synthetic fiber.
