IN THE WEEKLY RUBRIC "NEW MARK" Wonderzine presents young designers and tells where and how you can buy their things. Our heroine this week is Sarah Lo, a girl who dreamed of business and as a result launched a brand of backpacks and bags made of leather and sheepskin.
American Sarah Lo creates basic backpacks, strap handbags and clutches. Lo uses only natural materials - sheepskin and leather, which adds value to her things at a time when every second bag is made of leatherette. In the latest collection, the designer works with perforation: she made a backpack of mesh black leather. Her bags are notable just for their texture: the obvious hit of the brand is plush backpacks in purple and burgundy colors.
Sarah was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Los Angeles. The girl does not remember when she wanted to become an accessory designer, - she entered Parsons and afterwards decided what work she would choose. After completing her internship at Billionaire Boys Club, Vivienne Tam and Malhia Kent, Law launched her brand of accessories, Kara. They began selling large department stores Harvey Nichols and Lane Crawford, as well as stores Opening Ceremony. Sarah plans to expand her line of bags and start using new materials like nylon and canvas.
After Parsons School of Design, I did not do one internship. In Malhia Kent (this is Chanel weaving studio) I learned the skill, and while working at the Billionaire Boys Club, I realized how much marketing can have. I always wanted to be independent and have my own business, so I opened the brand of accessories. I create backpacks and bags for young working girls who are looking for something out of season and functional. Although now the mass market has gained incredible proportions, I think modern girls want not only fashionable and stylish, but also high-quality things. Buying such a thing, which can be called a good investment, is becoming more and more important. Recent events in Bangladesh should make us think about buying cheap products and generally what we buy.
