Non-binary people are those who do not want to identify themselves as "man" or "woman"; at the same time, they may have features that are commonly regarded in society as typically “feminine” and typically “masculine”. The director of the documentary series "Are you a boy or a girl?" Alina Aliyeva, together with the photographer Anar Movsumov, decided to ask such people and find out how they live and what difficulties they face - as well as how they build relationships with others during their lives. Movsumov explains that the heroes decided to take pictures with toys as a clear symbol of the imposed gender distribution in everyday life: "We wanted to show that the choice of children's toys and activities does not affect the gender identity that the child realizes in himself when he grows up. In his interviews, the characters tell that the main thing parents could give them was trust and acceptance. "
