6 Russian and Western brands of amber jewelry

Olesya Iva

The Museum of Moscow opened small but important multimedia exhibition "Amber. Rebirth". It is devoted to a new look at the valuable resin, whose age is estimated in millions of years. Few people know, but in the Kaliningrad region 90% of the world's stock of amber is concentrated and the only industrial enterprise for its extraction is located. In the world for amber is the turn, while in Russia there are examples of beautiful work with amber - in the afternoon with fire. Most often, the eyes come across primitive items: beads, mediocre pictures of amber fragments and double-headed eagles laid out in amber in the offices of officials. The exhibition organizers, the Russian Amber union, decided to look at amber from a different angle and dispel associations with the dusty treasure from the grandmother's box. Their works prove that amber is a beautiful mineral, and jewelry from it may well press the same pearls. We tell about the brand of jewelry, who took up the work with a fragile and weightless mineral.

Kao lin

Kao Lin's Moscow studio is known for its white porcelain ornaments and "ethical" wood (fallen, not felled trees) like juniper and oak. In their opinion, amber is an underestimated material, and the Soviet style of processing mineral to smooth beads recycles its most beautiful parts. Before starting to work with the fragile amber, designers specially learned the secrets of its manufacture from Kaliningrad craftsmen. The brand is trying to preserve the beautiful organic texture of amber, in which sometimes there are remains of moss and insects. In addition, designers note the amazing lemon-pine aroma, which gives a stone during processing. Kao Lin offers unusual combinations of amber with porcelain and wood, featuring necklaces and pendants, earrings, rings, as well as lamps and lamps made of large amber and valuable wood. The brand is going to show interior items in June at the Sixth International Biennial of Amber Works.

Mineral weather

The jewelry of the Mineral Weather brand is well known in Moscow, and their products are sold in the Khokhlovka showroom at China Town, Click Boutique and Podium Market stores. Designers Anna Pavlova and Alexander Olkhovsky create abstract jewelry made of bronze, aluminum, silver, and natural-cut stones (pomegranate, quartz, turquoise, tourmaline, amethyst, and others). Working with amber has become a new step for designers. Mineral Weather also try to show its natural beauty and create rings of bronze and tin with virtually untouched amber. Designers believe that the value of amber - in its antiquity, naturalness, weightlessness, transparency, as well as a variety of shades. Anna and Alexander note that the frozen resin, like any liquid, carries a lot of information and energy at the molecular level.

Feminatura

The brand FEMINATURA in 2014 was launched by Ekaterina Artemyeva, concentrating on manual work with natural stones and hypoallergenic metals. The designer believes that amber is a unique material, and some of its rare specimens are literally worth its weight in gold. The designer specially studied the processing of amber in Kaliningrad: Artemyeva does not polish amber to the end, leaving it matte, and also shows the beauty of stone chips and does not overload the design with unnecessary details. FEMINATURA offer neat jewelry of geometric shapes on silver threads: asymmetrical weightless earrings, minimalistic pendants, pendants with amber-frozen herbs. The designer compares amber jewelry with vintage ones: "Amber is a talisman. It has a powerful history of the Earth and the power of life." Amber jewelery is sold on the FEMINATURA website and costs between 1,000 and 3,500 rubles.

Be-jeweled

The British brand of democratic jewelry Be-Jeweled works with semiprecious stones (lapis lazuli and turquoise) and Kaliningrad amber, framing minerals with silver. In Be-Jeweled, you can find amber brooches, bracelets, earrings, rings, streamlined forms of pendants with transparent cognac-colored amber. All jewelry for the brand is made by hand by Polish masters. It is noteworthy that the classic amber beads of Be-Jeweled will cost the most - they cost 200 pounds - but almost always sold out. Prices for the rest of the decorations on average 50-100 pounds, all products are packaged in soft bags. You can find them, for example, in the online store John Lewis. Delivery will cost ten pounds on top.

Valentin Yudashkin

Valentin Yudashkin presented his first jewelry collection of amber jewelry during the spring-summer collection 2015 at the Fashion Week in Paris. I must say, the decorations turned out to be as decorative as the traditional items of the brand. Yudashkin took to work with the most expensive amber - "royal" - ivory. Black diamonds served as a frame for the mineral. The Valentin Yudashkin Royal Amber collection includes pendants, pendants, beads and rings. Many products are additionally decorated with a small pendant in the form of a home logo. The most concise and neat Valentine, perhaps, turned out bracelets.

Masterpeace x Opening Ceremony

The name of the designer of the Russian brand Masterpeace Evgenia Linovich is well known in the world. Her products are already being sold at Matchesfashion, and a year ago Linovich presented a capsule collection of accessories for American and Japanese stores Opening Ceremony, in which she used amber. True, in a decorative vein. Evgenia presented collars and fringe-kokoshniki from denim, embroidered with amber beads and Ural gems. This collaboration can be called the first successful example of the work of the brand with amber, which is also noticed by international buyers.
