For whom to subscribe: Collages, photos and fanart with Gucci print
This fall, the Gucci heavy-duty brand launched the #GucciGram project, by inviting a number of artists, photographers, and illustrators to rethink Gucci Blooms and Gucci Caleido prints. "This is the starting point for different stories, united by the idea of absolute freedom. Today, art is often born and gains a voice in online media, a life-giving source of modern visual culture," creative director Alessandro Michele summarized the essence of the project. Then, young and independent artists, including Amalia Ullman and the satirical collageist Kalen Hollomon, who have ruthlessly comprehending contemporary reality, have done their work for the fashionable giant.
Now the project has gone to the second circle: the Tian print with flowers, butterflies and birds has been left to the artists, as if sketched from Chinese landscapes three centuries old. Moreover, all participants are now from Asia - for example, the multimedia artist Cao Fei, recognized far beyond China, made a picture for Gucci with the name "Nowhere" and distinct social overtones. The ribbon on the #GucciGram tag is constantly updated - however, there are a lot of reposts, and it’s not so easy to make out where the artist’s work is and where folk art is. But watch out for this life hashtag no less fascinating.
