Best of the year: Andrei Podshibyakin advises video game

2015 IS FITTING THE END. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the year turned out to be saturated, including culturally. To dot the “and” and make sure that nothing important had passed by, we asked experts in various fields to tell about the brightest books, films, albums and other cultural events. In the eleventh issue, game critic Andrei Podshibyakin recommends taking up the video game, which this year has been waiting for and discussed most of all - and for good reason.

With the main game of the year, everything is simple - it's Fallout 4. Even people far from games could not help but pay attention to the hysteria that swept over the media at the end of November: funny pictures "wives say goodbye to their husbands on the eve of Fallout 4 premiere," the headlines "What's wrong with Fallout 4" a copy of a lawsuit of some unfortunate who lost sleep, peace, wife and work due to Fallout 4 (it seems that this is still a fake), and so on.

In short, this is a great adventure in the scenery of Boston, destroyed by nuclear bombs many decades ago. Slightly alternative history: cars with nuclear reactors, household flying robots and burnt advertising posters in the style of the late American 50s; the number in the title should not frighten anyone: it is an airtight game, it is quite possible to start with it - and, actually, finish it. It's a long time to explain, but Fallout 4 is the perfect cut of modern video games.

Here are important moments of self-awareness in, so to speak, given circumstances. When, for example, you go knee-deep in a radioactive pool loaded with scrap metal, magazines, dog food, a grenade launcher and other important things. Ticking Geiger counter. Classic music plays on the radio. A dog running around named Sobachatina. At the periphery of the view, a huge green super mutant kills a thug in a leather sadomaso-harness. All is well. Life is a success.
