What to wear: 10 new winter wardrobe hits
EVERY SEASON we talk about things that it makes sense to add to your wardrobe. So this time we chose 10 items of clothing and footwear that we all are likely to buy inevitably in the next three months. Just because they will be in every store and on every mannequin.
Oversize jacket
Huge down-padded coats, Alaskans, parks that look like down comforters are a real salvation for the Russian winter, and at the same time the most humane trend of the season. You can wear such with anything, but the designers this season for some reason really insist on things in linen style. Well, layering is another clue for those who do not want to freeze in the winter. Under the dress-nightie you can always wear a turtleneck or knit top. It is worth considering that such a jacket completely changes the silhouette: it is possible to leave an extremely fashionable combination in the form of a huge down jacket and a maxi-length skirt for magazine shots.
Victorian blouse
We have already written about the return of the Victorian era as the main trend of the current and future seasons. Blouses with a wavy stand-up collar can already be found in any mass market. In order not to become quite similar to the heroine of Eva Green from the series “Terrible Tales”, combine them better with something emphasized modern, for example, with wide trousers or jeans. The big plus of such a thing is its versatility - it can be put on both at the New Year's party and at the interview.
Treads
Treads - the traditional autumn-winter shoe trend, which makes itself felt every season. In the same season, designers went for broke. Boots above the knee could be seen in the autumn-winter shows of a huge number of brands - from Christian Dior to Calvin Klein Collection. The variety is staggering: vinyl or traditional smooth leather, with fringe or accessories. Some variants are so high that they completely hide their legs even when paired with a relatively short skirt - but this is certain only for those who are not afraid of extremes. Most of the designers advocate practicality, so they offer jackboots either on a flat sole or on a small stable heel.
Unusual tights
It is useful to repeat that fashion is now accepting and in every way encourages tights that go beyond the "daily" bodily and black (that is, colored, knitted or patterned). So you should not carefully go around them in the underwear department: this is not just a new norm, but also a bright autumn-winter trend. At the Richard Chai show, you could see gray tights, in Proenza Schouler - tights that look like fishing nets, and Rodarte - fishnet tights-tights. In general, it remains only to decide. Such tights as if created for a gloomy, gray winter, to raise the spirits of themselves and others.
Upholstered fabric items
"Elegant upholstery for furniture" - the first thing you think about prints at shows of Simone Rocha, Givenchy and Marques'Almeida. The drawings, which we primarily associate with interior fabrics, in the new season are on dresses, coats and even pants. You can consider this as another antidote to the dominance of minimalism, but, firstly, it's just beautiful. Obviously, this tendency is able to last more than one season, and for those to whom this tendency seems too theatrical and festive, we advise you to limit yourself to, for example, a jacket - such can be found even in Topshop.
Knitted vest
Vests, as if borrowed from a grandfather, are a tendency from the 70s, an era that has not lost ground for several seasons in a row. You can try to find the "original" in European second-hand, and you can turn to modern design options: Alessandro Michele from Gucci suggests wearing such a vest with other fashionable things - a shiny skirt and fur loafers, and Miuccia Prada - with a silk blouse and bright print trousers .
Beret
Officially, the most fashionable hat of the season, about which we have already written more than once. And yet it is impossible not to include it in this list, since it takes - the most obvious hit of this winter. Edie Slimane offers to wear it with school dresses and hard leather leather jackets, Stella McCartney with strict coats, Vivienne Westwood with free coats, Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier in Marc by Marc Jacobs with everything. If you spend 300 dollars on taking it seems insane (we share your pain), the most optimal option is to search the mass market or even try to link it to yourself. You really won't lose this one.
Coat to the floor
A warm coat, perhaps, comes to mind first when thinking about updating a winter wardrobe: in unpredictable Russian weather conditions, it can suddenly come in handy in any month for six months. This year, designers vote for the length - if you wish, you can wrap up in such a coat as in a blanket. Chloé is advised to wear it with a midi skirt and high boots, Maison Marigiela is worn with dance shoes and short dresses, and THE ROW is worn with trousers pipes and loafers without heels. Dries Van Noten stand for maxi-length in everything and combine a long coat with a dress on the floor. We see no restrictions: this noticeable thing looks great with both sneakers and high heels.
Shiny skirt
Bright, noticeable things always go hand in hand with clothes that can be conventionally denoted as "new comfort". Amazingly, a skirt made of Lurex or of metallized leather in combination with a basic top and strict men's shoes in most cases turns out to be more appropriate than the ubiquitous jeans, and it looks many times more interesting. If you are brave enough, you should take an example from Nina Ricci and Shristopher Kane - designers advise wearing it with blouses or tops from similar fabric. Here it is - a chance to become the most visible at the party.
Things with fur elements
Seasonality in fashion is gradually erased, but due to tradition and rational reasons, not a single autumn-winter show is complete without fur. Fluffy fur coats - a noticeable trend that magazines celebrate every year. We can not ignore the important observation - the fur has become an absolutely consumable material: birkenshtoks, bags and key rings are made of it. Fur décor has also become commonplace - for example, Gucci made the fur part of the sleeve of the dress, and Michael Kors - pockets. We advise you to pay attention to the manipulation of artificial fur. Thanks to modern technology, it is not inferior in beauty to natural, far more practical and wear-resistant and, which is almost the most important, gives +100 to karma.
