New and best: 8 brands of concise shoes for the ages
Brands are gaining popularity in the last couple of years.specializing in a certain category of goods: some decide to concentrate on, say, things from denim - but one that over the years only gets better; others - on the cloaks of the perfect cut and style. A separate list here are young brands who decide to engage in footwear: it is often technically more difficult to produce this piece of clothing than sewing clothes (it’s impossible to do it on the knee), and it is even harder to achieve an adequate ratio of quality and price. We are talking about the eight most worthy representatives of this trend, whose names you may not yet know.
Loq
The shoe brand is originally from Los Angeles, which can be easily put on a par with young, but already established brands like Mansur Gavriel or Maryam Nassir Zadeh. Keren Longkumer and Valerie Kuant Zekchetto, graduates of the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising, started their own business several years ago - almost immediately after graduating from the university - and gradually began to enter into serious retailers like Need Supply Co. and Shopbop.
Among other notable achievements - it was their shoes that Solange Knowles chose for the shootings in the videos "Don't Touch My Hair" and "Cranes in the Sky". Now Keren lives in India, Valerie - in Los Angeles, but regularly phone on Skype for work and not only. At the same time, brand shoes are produced in Spain altogether - a real cosmopolitan.
Mari giudicelli
Founder of the brand of the same name Marie Giudicelli may be familiar to you from the lookbooks of the online store Maryam Nassir Zadeh - she often became their heroine. Marie started off as a non-professional model, but, inspired by the example of her friend Maryam Nassir, decided to retrain as a shoe designer. The girl showed her debut collection in December 2015 and pretty soon acquired an army of fans. Marie works in retro-aesthetics close to herself: embossed leather mules and “hairy” loafers are easy to imagine in the wardrobe of their author, and Mari Giudicelli shoes are made in her native Brazilian girl in a small family factory.
Reike nen
Seoul brand Reike Nen was founded in 2010 by designer Rei Yong Hong-Mi. The designer herself describes her aesthetics as “modern sophistication”, but in reality the girl doesn’t disdain to look at ideas from her colleagues - in the collections of the brand you can guess the references to, say, the previous seasons of Céline or J.W.Anderson. However, Reike Nen doesn’t take away the charm: in the end, Korean fashion, for the most part, does not differ in its originality. If you are looking for shoes with cute modern design that every second Zara lover will not have, go here.
Brother vellies
This brand is more than just a tribute to fashion trends. Its founder, Aurora James, set as its goal the creation of jobs for Africans: all Brother Vellies shoes are made by hand by craftsmen from Morocco, Kenya, Ethiopia and South Africa. The girl also draws her design ideas from the traditional culture of the region, and the key model in the brand's assortment - boots similar to the classic desert boots - is inspired by veldskoen shoes originally from South Africa.
In addition to them, the brand now produces mules, slippers, and even blophers - in general, it is in complete agreement with modern trends. At the same time, Brother Vellies honestly follow the principles of ethical production: the use of leather purchased from local farmers, the organization of favorable working conditions for their workers, the staining of materials mainly with natural dyes.
Dorateymur
A graduate of Cordwainer's College, London-based designer Dora Teymur launched her own brand in 2012 - since then, trendy loafers and strangely shaped shoe boots have been appreciated by retailers who know a lot about young talents - from the New York Opening Ceremony to Moscow’s “Tsvetnoy”. When creating collections, the designer is inspired by the mods of the 1960s and 1970s, the wardrobe of Marie Antoinette, as Sofia Coppola once saw him. From season to season, the basic range of models remains virtually unchanged: Turbojet loafers, Munise mules, Double Delta ankle boots. But within the narrow range of products, Dora is experimenting with materials, textures and decorative details - the designer seems to have found his own stylistic niche, and this is commendable.
Newbark
Strictly speaking, the brand is not new - designers-sisters Mariam and Mardjan Malakpur founded it back in 2009 - but Newbark hasn’t yet gained mass popularity. And in vain, the laconic models of the brand, not overburdened by excessive decorative techniques, fit perfectly into the concept of the new minimalism. The first collection included only one shoe model - something between a Moroccan grandmother and male sleepers - which ideally fit in the handbag. Today, girls continue to release their most hit model in a variety of variations from season to season, but now in the "Shop" section of the brand’s website, mules, sandals and a few bags coexist with it.
Martiano
Designer Martiniano Lopez Crozet went even further than his colleagues: the concept of his brand is based not just on one particular piece of clothing, but on a certain model - the so-called glove shoes. Martignano himself has a curious background: before he entered the fashion industry, he performed a performance artist for sixteen years. Having decided to change the profile of activity, the young man created a collection of shoes inspired by ballet pointes - first for men and then for women.
Martiniano is a story not about the variability of the model range, but about bringing the idea to the absolute: an incredibly comfortable, perfectly fitting footwear, hand-sewn from the finest leather that Salvatore Ferragamo uses in its collections. The brand is registered as New York, but production is based in Buenos Aires.
Alumnae
One of the founders of the brand, Cary Sigerson, is not a newcomer to fashion - back in 1991, she and Miranda Morrison created the Sigerson Morrison brand. Alumnae is her second child, also having only shoes in her assortment. Carey’s many years of experience in design is clearly felt: the models she produces with her colleague Eliza Axelson-Chidsey are a thoughtful mix of current trends and the girls ’own aesthetic vision.
It is worth saying that not all Alumnae shoes justify their high price (on average - 500-700 dollars), but you can find worthy copies. By the way, the brand's online store is worth a look at least for the sake of visual pleasure: the assortment in it is ordered by color, and the models are shot large and with beautiful light.
