New Name: Fashionable Retiree Buddy Winkle
IN RUBRIC "NEW NAME" Once a week we talk about promising newcomers - musicians, directors, artists and other creative people. Those whose name is increasingly appearing on the pages of magazines, in the tapes of social networks and in our conversations, and who is clearly on the verge of great success. Today we will talk about a new Internet star - a pensioner from Kentucky, who at her age demonstrates incredible cheerfulness, awareness of modern pop culture, love of acid colors and technological knowledge.
At one time, the young blogger Tavi Gevinson was called the "little granny" (she really looked like a fashionable old woman). The new Internet star Buddy Winkle, on the contrary, confirms the world course on infantilism: not giving a damn about age, Buddy behaves and dresses up as if she’s 18. Moreover, after watching her instagram or twitter, the primary intention to twist a finger at the temple disappears by itself.
New Internet sensation 86 years. Buddy Vinkle lives in Williamstown, Kentucky, and her story began with a video on Vine, which her granddaughter uploaded in March: a video in which Buddy twists a cigarette, watched a few thousand people in a couple of weeks - and so they found out about the funny old woman the world. From that moment on, she began to lead Twitter and Instagram: a month later, she already had several hundred thousand subscribers, who still leave comments every day like "Buddy Winkle, be my grandmother."
Buddy can be considered an eccentric old woman and add it simply out of curiosity, but in fact her example makes the world every day better. Not to mention the fact that it can be quite seriously put in the icons of the style: Winkle wears acid neon, psychedelic things with a tai-dai effect, T-shirts with the words "Bitches all hate me" and "Beyoncé", flaunts in bathing suits, twerls in bicycles and leaves funny signatures on social networks like "Why twerk when you can hula hoop?" or "I look good when I don't even try to look good". Buddy calls all his detractors simply “basics” and says he prays for them.
The example of Buddy Winkle is contagious: she leads an active lifestyle, makes new friends and proves that old age can be a joy. Under Twitter's tagline, Buddy Winkle has the inscription “Stealing your guys from 1928,” but she seems to have stolen our hearts. It remains to wait for the moment when Buddy appears in some regular advertising campaign of the fashion house. We think it is just around the corner.
