Coperni Femme: Astronomical Clothing for Women

IN THE WEEKLY RUBRIC "NEW MARK" WE REPRESENT young designers and tell where and how you can buy their things. Our heroes this week are young French designers Arno Vaillant and Sebastian Meyer, the finalists of the ANDAM Awards competition and the new hope of France.

Arno Vaillant and Sebastian Meyer met in 2009 while studying at the Paris school of design Mod'Art International. One of them studied design, and the second - fashion business, so that, like in a number of other success stories, it was a well-established alliance of the artist and strategist. While Arno was studying business and interning at Balenciaga, Sebastian was honing his drawing and cutting skills. The duo launched a joint brand recently, in 2013, and entered the fashion industry with its feet: the very first collection of the brand was purchased by the Opening Ceremony concept store.

A year later, Coperni Femme took second place in the prestigious French competition ANDAM Awards, established by Pierre Berger - partner and right-hand man Yves Saint Laurent. This competition, as a rule, gives a pass to the lineup of the Fashion Week in Paris, and the winners receive two mentoring and consulting seasons of Francois-Henri Pinault and 250,000 euros for business development. Among his finalists in different years were Martin Margiela (he became the first winner in 1989), Viktor & Rolf, Christophe Lemaire, Jeremy Scott and Gareth Pugh. Second place for the First Collections Prize guarantees the support of the industry, as well as a grant of 75,000 euros. This is exactly the amount that Coperni Femme received, losing the victory to the much more experienced designer Iris van Herpen.

Coperni Femme succeed in minimalistic, futuristic and at the same time feminine things of sculptural cut and pure forms. In their works one can feel the knowledge of the archives of the house of Balenciaga and dedication to architecture. The things of the brand look like the clothes of the future and, moreover, are made of high-tech textiles. Insightful designers clearly understand that the latest fabrics provide almost unlimited possibilities for the design of things. However, Arno and Sebastian perfectly know how to maintain a balance between complex things and extremely laconic, which are easily combined with each other, and the images of the brand do not look overloaded.

Coperni Femme obviously has a bright future, although we would not be surprised if designers are soon offered the place of creative directors of some distinguished home or brand, for example, Lacoste.

Coperni Femme consists of two words: "Coperni" - part of the name of the Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus, "Femme" - women, the object of our work. Brand name - a tribute. We create astronomical design for modern girls.

Where to buy things Coperni Femme

Brand items are sold almost exclusively in Opening Ceremony worldwide, as well as in a Chez Moi shop in Paris. In the new season, brand items will appear on The Corner website.
