Just Gucci: Who is she - adviser to the American president

On Wednesday, February 8, Donald Trump Kelliann Conway Advisor CNN came on the air to once again answer the question that connects the new US President with Vladimir Putin. Donald Trump "knows only a little bit" of Putin, she said, adding that the White House is ready to cooperate with the Kremlin in the fight against terrorism, in particular ISIS. (organization prohibited in the territory of the Russian Federation. - Approx. Ed.).

Conway words have weight. It is known that Trump listens to her. It is said that the head of the election campaign of Trump Steve Bannon agreed to take his position only on the condition that he shares the campaign management with Conway. And yet, apart from her colleagues, few are in a hurry to discuss her professional qualities, because, as a professional bullfighter (that's what The Hollywood Reporter magazine called her), she regularly draws public attention to herself with controversial statements and front-line outfits. What is her release on the day of the inauguration, which caused almost more excitement than Melania Trump outfit?

Gucci extravagant tunic in the colors of the American flag, obviously, was conceived as a patriotic message, something like a visual interpretation of the slogan: "Make America Great Again". Conway’s answer to NBC’s question about what it really was was disarmingly succinct: “Ah, that’s just Gucci.” A second later, the former head of the presidential staff added: "This is the uniform of the Trump revolution." Later, in an interview with the same edition, she explained: “I’m sorry if I insulted the fans of black trousers, bringing a little color into their lives.” Who is hiding behind such a bright facade in all senses and how did Conway manage to settle in the White House and become the female voice of the antifeminist president?

Kelliann Conway, nee Fitzpatrick, grew up in the town of Atco, New Jersey, in a half Irish, half Italian Italian Catholic family. She was raised by four women: a mother, a grandmother, and two aunts, because her parents divorced when she was only two years old. Conway’s hometown is called the “blueberry capital” of the world, and in 1987 Conway won a berry-picking competition and won the title of “blueberry princess”.

At the age of 17, while studying in high school, she wrote an article for a local newspaper about the Democratic and Republican national conventions - and then she was drawn into politics. As a result, Conway went to study at a political analyst, and later defended a law degree at George Washington University. In her youth, she worked in a firm that conducted public opinion research for Ronald Reagan: Conway studied why women did not want to vote for him. Subsequently, she also worked for Frank Lunz, who is called the "Republican PR guru." She recalls those times as the total domination of men in this area: "I am a female consultant to the Republican Party, and this means that when I come to the meeting of the National Committee of the Republican Party, I have the feeling that I am interrupting a bachelor party in the locker room" Order of Elk "".

In 1995, she created her own consulting company, The Polling Company / Women Trend, which became involved in political and marketing research of a female audience. At the same time - in the nineties - Conway began to appear regularly on television as a participant in the discussions in the show "Politically Incorrect", and also tried her hand in the genre of stand-up comedy (though unsuccessfully). Interestingly, Conway’s husband, George T. Conway III (also a lawyer), was at one time related to the litigation over Bill Clinton. When Paul Jones convicted the then US president of sexual harassment, Conway wrote down a note from the Supreme Court and later had direct access to the testimony of this trial.

In the nineties, Kellyann Conway advised corporations to help them understand what women want to buy, and in 2005 she released a book on this topic - “What Women Want” ("What Women Really Erasing Political, Racial, Class , and Religious Lines to Change the Way We Live "). In a recent interview with The Washington Post when asked if she considers herself a feminist, Conway said a firm “no”: “I think my generation is not chasing labels. My favorite label is“ Mommy. ”I think the movement for feminism was captured supporters of abortion and hatred of men, which is seen in some of the slogans of this movement. I consider myself to be a post-feminist. I see myself as a woman who creates herself by making decisions on her own, and is not just a victim of circumstances. "

Conway has already become a meme legislator - her expression "alternative facts" immediately spread online

Conway, the mother of three daughters (apart from them, the Conway couple also have a son), condemned the millions of people who took part in the "women's marches" that swept across the USA (and other countries of the world) after Trump's inauguration on January 20, 2017. “Honestly, I did not understand the meaning,” she said. Cartoonists portray Conway as the bearer of the beast, who would have destroyed everything around without her strong hand. However, according to Newt Gingrich, an American politician and Trump's supporter (Conway herself once worked for him), nothing will change the 70-year-old US president. Conway understands this and is not going to “break” him, Gingrich is sure. The Slate edition, for example, writes that no Conway is really a tamer - she only knows how to pack and sell the words of her boss.

In 2001, the Conway family acquired an apartment in the Trump World Tower, where she met Trump himself five years later. In 2015, Trump asked her to think about participating in his election campaign, but Conway did not agree immediately. And only on July 1, 2016, she took the post of senior adviser to the head of the election campaign of Trump Paul Manafort, and in August (when Manafort replaced Bannon in his post) she became the first woman in the history of the United States - the head of the republican presidential campaign. And she knew a lot about this: for the past couple of decades, she has only been engaged in helping conservative politicians to fight for the votes of women.

Not a month has passed since then, and Conway has already become a legislator of memes. Protecting the words of the White House spokesman, Sean Spicer, who publicly presented the wrong facts about the number of people at Trump's inauguration in Washington, Conway used the phrase “alternative facts”, which was immediately distributed online. Conway’s opponents have noticed that, based on its logic, a lie can be called an “alternative truth”; and in the US, sales of George Orwell’s 1984 dystopia were record highs.

In addition, in the first month at the new post, Conway became famous for the "massacre at Bowling Green." Justifying Trump's decrees banning US entry to citizens of Muslim countries, Conway referred to the Bowling Green massacre, which in fact was not, as journalists quickly caught her. In the city of Bowling Green, Kentucky, two Iraqi citizens were arrested and found guilty of murdering American soldiers in Iraq, but there was no massacre there.

Conway is definitely a star: fans surround her, holding out posters and their clothes in hopes of an autograph. Even her detractors admit that she has a disarming smile and deftly uses words. However, people who know her say that she herself does not believe in anything, and journalists notice that she would work equally brilliantly regardless of whose side she takes. Even six months before the elections, having already headed Trump's headquarters, Conway easily admitted in an interview with Glamor magazine that these elections have a special personal meaning for her, since she, like many American women, would be happy to see a woman in the US presidency. That, as we now see, did not prevent her from leading a man to the presidency, demonstrating a very dubious attitude towards women.
