Girls on how the crisis affects the consumption of cosmetics

Now we have to we begin to reduce consumption, but we try to do it without prejudice to the usual routine. Let's not hide the fact that spending on cosmetics is a big part of our expenses, and we decided to ask familiar girls about how they are going to change their personal care during a crisis and whether they will buy something from cosmetics in reserve.

My approach to banks was also conservative before the crisis: I’ve been buying the same funds for a long time, year after year, I’ve been well suited, and I try new products only if for some reason the old bank stopped arranging or invented in the same segment something quite outstanding, which happens not so often. Hiking to the beautician, and so, alas, infrequent, I will, as before, replace with enzyme peeling and nourishing masks - I will go to a specialist only if I need something more than ordinary cleansing. The basis of my care, Crème de la Mer, was going to buy The Eye Balm Intense for the eyes too, but now I probably won’t, but on the cream, I hope, I don’t have to save - I’d better make my hair removal or manicure or my favorite Clinique alcohol lotion on Clean & Clear than donating a jar that hasn't let me down for years.

I have long since switched from the “I want and that's it” mode of purchase to the “buy by necessity” mode, but I often pull to the last. Even the crisis and the threat of rising prices are not exactly motivating to go and spend. I spend my caring cosmetics slowly, and decorative cosmetics generally lasts for years, while the storage time of open jars is not that big to be purchased for future use.

The exception could be shampoos. Kiehl's big cans of 500 ml are enough for me to wash my head for exactly three months. I used to consider hair products more expensive than 1000 rubles to be a meaningless luxury, but the products of this brand work wonders on my hair: porous, dry and therefore wavy, they turn into smooth, non-smoking and almost straight. Even without air conditioning. Therefore, anticipating a price increase, I deliberately went to Kiehl's to buy a couple of cans a year in advance. Did not make it. Price tags on selected products, including shampoos, have already shown 20% higher than yesterday's price. I was upset, I did not buy anything, I decided that before the end of the current bank I would have time to get used to the new prices and then I would buy as if nothing had happened.

The second exception is Trish McEvoy mascara, which is not for sale with us. I order it in several copies from London when one of my friends flies there. The last time I brought it in October. The pound rate was already beginning to grow, and the difference in the amounts of previous packages and this one was noticeable, but I did not refuse it. Now, of course, glad that I decided on that order. Most likely, in the future I will buy this mascara, no matter what.

My makeup budget will remain the same, I can just buy less for it. And there will be an opportunity to review their priorities. For example, I love Tom Ford decorative cosmetics, but it used to be for me at the very top price limit, so it seems that I will have to say goodbye to it. If it increases in price by another 30 percent, the purchase will no longer be regarded as “pleasant, expensive self-indulgence,” but “how can you spend so much on cosmetics?” (the line is thin, but even I, a fan and a cosmetic maniac, have it).

The high cost makes you think more about each purchase, bear thoughts about it, read reviews, choose carefully. Of course, the crisis is a good reason to pay attention to cheap brands, if earlier they were not interested. It seems to me that our use of luxury is our national peculiarity. Foreign bloggers, on the contrary, apologize if they praise expensive cosmetics, always mentioning which ones can be found.

It would be nice for everyone to answer the question of what is more important in more constrained conditions - the make-up itself or the opportunity to please yourself with the same packaging. And that, and that is absolutely not bad, but awareness will help to understand what is needed right now. In my personal experience, the quality of decorative cosmetics of the mass-market segment is slightly worse than that of luxury, but not proportional to the difference in price. By the way, almost no cosmetic brand on the market has its own production, mainly it is a contract. That is, the majority of European brands of completely different segments are made at one plant. I was lucky to be on an excursion, and my world will never be the same: we were shown how many products were made according to one formula, but completely differently presented and stood. Not everything is expensive, quality is necessarily, and not everything cheap is necessarily worse. It's time to remember this banal truth and more carefully choose what to spend money on.

Honestly, in early autumn I felt the need to think about how to save money. For me, cosmetics is also a working material, the quality of which is the most important aspect when choosing. Fortunately, I always treated democratic brands with interest and experimented with novelties. Far from the price determines the product, and a masterpiece can be found just not in the "suite".

At the beautician will not be able to save, as I do injections. But at home she began to make collagen tissue masks and made stocks of the most popular in work: cotton pads, napkins, beautyblender and chlorhexidine sponge. I also take care of toothpaste, vitamins and antioxidants. There are no options - no replacements and only buy in pharmacies abroad. It is not possible to save much on the hair, since they are very thin and my scalp is sensitive. Moving from Alterna to Kérastase. Hallelujah, I can do a manicure myself and cope with a heel brush. I also found in time an analogue of Bioderma's favorite micellar water: few people know that the brand has a children's line, and in it there is similar water, only much cheaper and of very large volume. About creams and serums, while they are still there, it’s scary to think. Now I have a Sisley line, and if I have to look for something more democratic, I will try to do it in pharmacies and preferably not in Russia. The most important thing is to buy the whole line, no matter how much it costs. By the way, I confess to terrible family sin. My mother always brought from travels a year’s supply of soap and shower gel. At first I laughed at her and scolded, but then she began to do it herself. This is ridiculous, but the issue of hygiene is now exhausted. Plus, I really love oils and body scrubs and found great options with Garnier. I also like the Russian brand Natura Siberica.

I can advise a decent inexpensive "decorative". Matting napkins "L'Etoile" are good, the only thing before you attach to the face, you need to shake them to remove excess powder. Vaseline is an excellent lip balm, and for the contour I opened two whole wonderful pencils: "L'Etoile" and L'arte del bello (can be found in "Elise"). High-quality gloss and lipstick from IsaDora, L'Oréal, Sephora, eyebrow gel from Artdeco, Maybelline and L'Oréal mascara. Wonderful single shadows and sets are in IsaDora, Pupa, Sephora (especially the Nude palette). I am also delighted with NoUBA. I will not stop testing new products and I want to try Max Factor, because now beloved Pat McGrath is conjuring over them. On what I can not exactly save - it is tone, correctors, bases for the face and a favorite base for the age of NARS.

Perhaps, I will be more careful and selective about shopping, but I’m unlikely to save on quality. I will buy less of what is needed to work at the moment. Of course, if your hands grow from the right place, you can achieve the desired result with cheap brands, but some products cannot be replaced. Mascara and lipstick - the only thing you can save, in my opinion. But if you need lipstick bright and for the whole evening, then you need to think about it.

I do not often visit the beautician, except in the winter season, as I have very dry skin. From him, I'm definitely not going to give up. Care at home is also very important, of course. Buy in store? Not a bad idea, but we must remember that everything has its own shelf life. Although now I have bought a lot of cosmetics for myself and for work, but this is all that I was going to get in the near future. Tone, skin care and makeup preparation products are something that cannot be saved and ensure the success of the whole picture both for the camera and in life. Personally, I will never deny myself a manicure! In general, I think that I am adapting to this situation and will not be upset. So far, nothing has changed much.

I am a minimalist in relation to everything that does not apply to "dekorativki". With care, everything is quite simple - I have skin without any problems, so the money can be counted on the fingers: cream (recently bought Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream with SPF 15, you can survive the winter even without face oil), hyaluronic acid, steam - three masks. Of all the moisturizing products for my body, I only have oil - it is clear that soon I will have to be content with one jar, but this will not harm the skin. With hair, after having cut them, there are also no problems: a simple shampoo, balsam and mask, when not too lazy, is enough to keep them in good condition, even with all my love to smear everything that glitters and lies badly on my head.

But color cosmetics threatens the wallet at any time. I love strange things and almost never can stop them from buying. Yesterday I went to the store only for sparkles for the face, but I also came back with a strawberry-colored Wonder Milk eyeliner. Then I thought and realized that it was better to choose white - it could be mixed with any pigment and get not only pink, but also a bunch of unusual colors. Thinking short, useful.

I plan to look more closely at the stands with the cosmetics of the mass market: I know from experience that there are some cool things there, sometimes even more interesting than those of professional brands. Everything, of course, cannot be replaced, because I don’t want to suffer with non-Chanel black mascara, but why not take Dolce & Gabbana gray lipstick or red blush with you? Now I plan to buy all the flavors I like (the prices are growing rapidly), and still press makeup artists, elicit information about really cool stuff you can't live without, and talk about them on Wonderzine.
