GEORGE BI
LONDON
From early childhood I collect something. This is from my parents: they were mad romantics and surrounded themselves with beautiful and amazing things. I began collecting my clothes collection from the 1960s and 1970s at sixteen. These are my favorite epochs: I think it was much more fun then. A huge number of youth movements influenced both fashion and behavior: the girls wore short shameless skirts, people did not try to adapt to the system. Things were either very large, or very small - all or nothing. Ocher tones, geometric and psychedelic prints - I really like all this. In addition, these things are perfectly combined with modern - they are timeless. Sometimes stupid stories happen to me. Once One Very Famous Man came to a party in exactly the same coat as what I had on me (after all, if a vintage item doesn’t mean that there are no more such things). He decided that I was a crazy fan who was following him, and I had to leave the party. I think you should not add that I immediately got rid of the coat. Recently, I like rough edges, worn items and oriental royal colors. Scorched orange, electric blue and dirty pastel colors are my favorite ones so far. And dense bulky embroidery on delicate elegant fabric, too, I like. As for fashion trends, it seems to me that the trend for everything Japanese, noticeable in the collections of spring-summer 2013, should come out next season. |
The 1960's Dior vintage coat is simply unreal - I had to literally beg the owner to sell it cheaper for me. It was at the RePsycho store in my native Bristol. The store has been around for decades, and there is always a very good choice. The owner always puts aside the best things for me. We have a warm relationship, and I often look to him. |
The shirt "mother of the groom" on the hanger looks scary, but I adore her. |
I got a red suede skirt from my mom's friend. |
A leather coat in patches was originally from the 1970s and cost me quite cheaply at Bricklain, the London weekend market. This raincoat is very relevant in the fall, and it has beautiful clasps. |
I got the pendant from my grandmother: she never hid that I was her beloved granddaughter, and all her jewelry was transferred to me. As a child, I tried it all the time. I miss my grandmother, so it's very nice to carry her gift. |
Skirt I found on the street. She was in a monstrous state, but I managed to restore it. I do not understand how you can throw out such things! |
1970s shirt from the Beyond Retro vintage store. These were very popular among teenagers of the time, and it seems everyone went to them. |
The triangular fur coat is made in the 1960s. I got it from a model friend — she has an incredible taste. I persuaded her to sell me this coat for just ten pounds. This is one of my favorite things: I adore these strange little triangles. |
Red dress in the style of the 1970s, I bought on Bricklane. I usually avoid this place as too tourist, but if you try, you can buy cool things there. |
A blue coat with a collar from the 1960s is completely gigantic. I traded him for one of my things. By the way, the exchange - the best way to update the wardrobe, if you do not have money. Green shoes - Marjan Pejoski. I adore all the shoes of this brand and spend every penny on them. |
Once I got a job volunteer at a charity shop Oxfam. Clothes are handed over there for free, volunteers work in the store, and all funds from sales are sent to charity. Blue with orange dress from the 1970s, I found during one of the designer nights that we had. |
It's hard to believe, but I also found a small kimono in a thrift store, although this is Agent Provocateur. It still hangs the price tag. |
1960s dress from Beyond Retro. When I bought it, it was in a monstrous state, but I liked the print so much that I could not resist and restored it. |
The bag is the late 1950s. I bought it at the car boot sale for two pounds. The picture is made of several applications, jewelry and lace. I like the way she is fruity, playful and cunning. |
A black transparent maxi dress from the 1970s is a find of one of the Oxfam volunteers. In The Simpsons, there was an episode when Homer put on weight so that he could wear only things for pregnant women - so I call this dress Homer. In fact, it’s just a square of fabric with holes. |
The shoes are my design, inspired by the 1970s. I made them from fish skin when I was at university. |
Lilac kimono comes from Japan. |
Another pair of shoes of my design. |
The dress is so short that when I put it on, everyone sees my ass. No wonder everyone likes it. It reminds me of the Blythe doll dress, which I also collect. They were made only in 1972 and removed from production, because the children were afraid of them. |
Vintage coat in the style of the 1960s is made of pieces of fur and leather - this makes it very unusual. At the same time, it combines with all the things of my wardrobe. |
Leather jacket - a gift. |
Shirt and suede skirt again from Oxfam. |
Bag-carpet from the 1970s. The woman from whom I bought it, kept it in the package, so she is still like new. I spent a lot of money on this bag and absolutely do not regret it - I traveled with her half the world. She is awesome! |
