London Fashion Week: Burberry Prorsum Show at Kensington Gardens

Yesterday in Kensington Gardens (directly opposite Albert Hall) it was crowded and noisy. People in black, flashes, photographers - it seems that the visitors strolling nearby should have thought that the models would go directly to the open air, and not to the catwalk in a glass building specially equipped for display. Burberry and Tom Ford are the two most important shows for most fashion editors, and for celebrities too. And if we talk about celebrities, then Burberry has the perfect first row in this respect: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Sienna Miller, Mario Testino ... even Nina Porter, the brand's face and model who had fallen on the catwalk a year ago, came.

However, the show began, and attention quickly shifted from the first row to the podium. Burberry is doing a live video broadcast of their show, and this time they also started a Twitter broadcast, so the show has not been delayed for more than 15 minutes lately, and at 16.15, no one is allowed into the hall. By the way, the technological innovations of the brand do not end at the broadcasts: as you know, the Burberry Prorsum podium collection can be ordered online immediately after the show and received within 7 weeks.

But all this does not mean that the head of the brand, Christopher Bailey, fascinated by technology, forgot about the main thing: about tailoring skills and manual work. Knitted, woven and embroidered with wooden beads tops, trench coats and shoes became the basis of the collection. The hoods of the parka were trimmed with raffia, a material that was also used in bags and outerwear. Raffia is undoubtedly an African theme: it also appeared in prints on women's and men's shirts, draped skirts and tight trench coats. Sometimes the palette became almost autumn, with shades of brown, plum, mustard and green - in trench coats, embroidered with geometric figures, shortened linen parks and elegant high-waisted midi skirts. If one had to come up with one word to characterize this show, it would be the word artisanal - tailor's skill in the highest sense of the word. At the same time, at the time of the final, when golden spangles flew from the ceiling to the catwalk, the Burberry team switched to a digital mode: a coat and bags from the new collection can be pre-ordered until September 26th.
