The actor briefly and patronizingly reflects on whether all this is a sign of a nervous breakdown, and expresses the hope that it is not.
Further more interesting. Franco refers to the history of the struggle of the actors with his public image. As examples, he cites Marlon Brando’s rejection of the Oscars, and, of course, mockuit Casey Affleck and Joaquin Phoenix's “I'm still here”, for which Phoenix had grown a beard and made himself an idiot for almost a year. It is gratifying that we also mentioned the names of LaBafa, Franco and Phoenix in one sentence - great minds, as they say, think alike.
Summarizing, James Franco turns to his own experience and talks about the moments when he himself was overcome by the desire to disown his image and roles, as well as the internal conflict peculiar to the actors: as the face of the film, they have limited ability to influence its final appearance and quality. Reasonable thought, if you do not go into pathos - Franco wring his hands a little, lamenting about the exorbitant pressure that celebrities experience, and in the penultimate paragraph uses the expression raison d'être.
