Amélie Pichard: Fairytale Shoes and Royal Bags
IN THE WEEKLY RUBRIC "NEW MARK" Wonderzine presents young designers and tells where and how you can buy their things. Our heroine this week is Amelie Pichard, the founder of the personal accessory brand.
Frenchwoman Amelie Pichard studied at Mod'Art School in Paris, then trained with shoemakers at Dice Kayek, as well as with orthopedic company Eric Lomain. She showed her first capsule collection in 2009, winning the competition of the shoe company Bata, and in 2011 she launched a brand name. The sources of inspiration for the young designer are contradictory - at the same time the heroines of the films of David Lynch and Pamela Anderson. Ameli Pichard says that it was Playboy who changed her life, so it’s no wonder that in advertising companies Amélie Pichard, models often pose nude.
While working on the product, Amelie takes as a basis a retro model of at least the 40s, or at least the 80s, but produces shoes and accessories from materials that are not banal and not typical of those eras. So, she can find pastel and caramel shades, mint-colored mules, kitten heels, decorated with pink artificial fur, patent leather backpacks, pink sateen or blue corduroy derby. For Amelie important brand details. So, clutches adorn the figures of alligators, and backpacks - charms in the form of a gold comb. Sunglasses have recently appeared in her collections.
Amélie Pichard shoes and accessories are sold on the brand's website, as well as in concept stores and department stores around the world: at Colette Paris and Galeries Lafayette, 10 Corso Como Milan, at Dover Street Market in London and New York, at ssense.com and also in various Asian stores from China and Japan to Korea. In Russia, the brand was purchased by Kuznetsky Most 20 in Moscow and Au Pont Rouge department store being prepared for opening in St. Petersburg.
Shoes interest me not as a product, but as the embodiment of fantasy. I create such a pair so that everyone on the street looks at you. Of the materials, I feel the greatest weakness for crocodile skin texture, although in my collections I use artificial.
