Deputies on violence: From the editors of Wonderzine

Our editorial board would very much like to recall its correspondents from the Duma, but it cannot, because we never had them. We would like to continue to talk about the Duma only with a postscript about her inappropriate attitude towards women, but the parliament has previously been the object of our attention only because of frantic sexism.

We very much support colleagues from the information media, who are forced to look for an insider in the most unpleasant and unsuitable conditions. And Farida Rustamova, Ekaterina Kotrikadze and Dasha Zhuk are very grateful for taking the risk of launching an important public campaign against violence, without hiding their names. This is a great deed, fraught with serious professional problems. They had something to lose, but we all gain a lot from them.

We remember that we live in Russia, where private confessions about harassment and humiliation are often perceived with laughter, where evil endowed with power almost always goes unpunished. We know that accusations of violence in our country never concern public people. We are used to the fact that the government not only does not oppose violence, but also becomes its source and lawmaker.

We are no longer surprised at the collective responsibility and the fact that men in power speak from a position of strength, and women in high positions usually echo them.

We will continue to fight this and would like to remind members of the parliamentary ethics commission, their curators and friends. It is you who serve our interests, and we are not yours. This is not us, and you should change jobs. Everything is okay with us, and you are immoral and unprofitable.
