Why the new face of Renee Zellweger is no reason to condemn

On Monday evening, Oscar-winning 45-year-old Renée Zellweger stepped onto the stage during the ELLE Women in Hollywood Awards at the Los Angeles Four Seasons Hotel. Within a few hours, half of the Internet was discussing and reviewing photographs that showed “no, not the same Renee Zellweger that we knew, but some completely different woman.”
Let's immediately call a spade a spade: Zellweger didn’t “get old”, didn’t get sick, didn’t “just dyed her hair,” in the end. Zellweger obviously underwent a series of relatively radical plastic surgeries (they did not start yesterday - even photos from a year ago suggest blepharoplasty) that made her face completely different from what we were used to seeing. This situation is unique and interesting in many aspects: for the first time we observe how an actress with world fame does not reincarnate, but turns into a visually different person, and for the first time we can assess the public reaction to this transformation.
The Hollywood industry, without any doubt, puts tremendous pressure on actors and especially actresses: even those that “grow old beautifully” (a favorite figure of twenty-year-olds, from which those who even know a little about the subject want to beat their heads against the table) resort to cosmetology tricks, because aging - let's be honest - is not a very beautiful thing. Yes, our beloved Susan Sarandon, Charlotte Rampling and Jessica Lang are not limited to homemade masks from yogurt - they just have excellent doctors and an impeccable sense of proportion.
Getting another face in adulthood is probably an interesting experience, even if you are not world famous.
But the case of Renee Zellweger is not related to the fight against aging (this can be seen from today's photos - her usually peach skin never looked as dehydrated as it is now, and all the wrinkles inherent in age are in place) or, for example, weight. Zellweger made herself other a person, and it is unlikely to be the result of a tragic medical mistake (although such a probability cannot be ruled out) - rather, it is a logical conclusion of the path that she did not start yesterday, if you look closely at her photos of recent years.
Getting another face in adulthood is probably an interesting experience, even if you are not world famous. Zellweger has always been a woman of an extraordinary mind; she could not help but understand what effect the changes in her appearance would cause, and nevertheless went to them. The Internet reacted, in general, as the Internet usually reacts, that is cruel: the range of opinions from “why shouldn't she experiment, since it's so terrible“ to ”I liked her eyes and slits so much” to a certain extent reduces everything to the woman's assessment like a piece of meat in a store. True, The Guardian immediately published a column with the promise of “roll away from Rene, hypocritical creatures” - a position worthy against the background of a general gagging, yet does not help in any way to comprehend a situation that deserves understanding, especially in isolation from the Zellweger personality.

“This person brought her an Oscar, why should she be unhappy?” - people are sincerely perplexed. In fact, this is a very important question. A discussion of the dramatically changed face of Renee Zellweger reveals the insights deep inside women. Many of the girls in such discussions explicitly admit that, given certain financial opportunities, they would have done such things with their appearance, which even a cat-man did not dream of. Unfortunately, it must be admitted that satisfaction with his reflection in the mirror and, in general, harmony with himself, including his appearance, has nothing to do with the Oscar and other material indicators of success. You can earn hundreds of thousands and even advertise blush, but at the same time hate your cheeks. And who guarantees that, sitting down in the chair of a beautician, you will be limited only to cleaning your face and a light massage, although you know for sure that only a couple of hours - and cheeks, which from the age of fifteen made you roar, when you look in the mirror, will leave forever?
Diagnosing photostocks is the last thing. But, nevertheless, a conscious (and we hope, a speech about the like) change of one’s face cannot but be the result of dissatisfaction with oneself or, at least, with one’s former appearance. However, do not want to confuse cause and effect. People magazine today published Renee Zellweger's response to the storm that her pictures raised. Rene writes that she is glad that people think that she looks different, because she is healthy and happy as never before. Of course, this is a so-so answer - in itself, happiness does not change the shape of the century. But if the change in the shape of the century brought her happiness, which the actress had not experienced before, one can only thank the plastic surgery for its capabilities. And if we miss her face, we’ll see Bridget Jones once again.
