Text: Irina Kuzmichyova

Answers to most questions that concern us we used to search online. In the new series of materials we ask such questions: burning, unexpected or widespread - to professionals in various fields.

There are long, detailed instructions that say that for each type of stain and fabric there is a home stain remover: from vinegar to a piece of white bread. But few people remember these tips by heart or keep them handy at the moment when the foundation has already met with a black turtleneck or a white t-shirt. We asked experts about simple and proven ways to remove cosmetics from clothes.

If you are constantly working with cosmetics, you should choose practical clothes. I think makeup artists and stylists often wear black as well in order not to get dirty. Rather, the makeup or dust on the knees was not so visible. I also do this, and in general I do not worry if there is a stain on my lipstick somewhere. Of course, the cosmetics should not be on the clothes of customers and models, so it is worth closing it with a dressing gown. They are disposable and reusable, and the latter can be washed.

I can almost always get rid of stains on clothes with micellar water: wet a cotton swab or a disk and wipe the dry thing several times. Most often, the makeup is on my collar down jacket. I soak a light fabric in Vanish or use a spot remover Dr. Vedy. Beckmann, he carefully treats fabrics. Although on natural silk and other delicate fabrics I did not try to use it.

The most complex stains are greasy, slightly less corrosive traces leave funds on a water basis with the content of natural dyes (tannins), and the easiest way to remove the dry ones. Stains of fresh vegetable oil, iodine, brilliant green, and ink are difficult to remove. At the same time, all stains become corrosive and difficult to remove when aging: pollution begins to slowly and surely oxidize with the participation of sunlight and air, if left on clothes for three hours or longer. And yet the spots themselves say little about - it is important where you put them: the fabric and its color matter, you need to pay attention to the manufacturer's recommendations for care. If, for example, a dress that needs dry cleaning has hit a water soluble stain, then treatment with water solutions at home can spoil the thing - it is better to take it to dry cleaning.

To remove stains from cosmetics on a greasy basis such as tone or lipstick, dishwashing detergent is well suited - it effectively breaks down fat. Alcohol or hydrogen peroxide can be used: blot contamination with a cotton pad until it is completely removed. With smooth skin and eco-leather surfaces, it is easier, just wipe the stained area with a damp cloth or a cloth with a light soap solution. In the case of the skin, it is important not to use aggressive agents so that the film coating does not come off: the difference in textures will be obvious. And eco-leather is spraying on textiles, and you should also handle it carefully to avoid cracks. Stains from the mascara are removed with a cotton swab dipped in warm soapy water. If the mascara has formed a small crust, gently scrape it off with a blunt knife tip, rinse with a solution and dry. And to remove nail polish, it is better to use acetone-free liquid - especially on delicate fabrics.

Before applying any composition to a thing, it is necessary to check its effect on the fabric in an inconspicuous area of clothing, preferably from the inside. It will also help assess the stability of the dye. It is undesirable to rub the stain, you need to moisten a cotton swab and soak the dirt.
