Toblerone Chocolate Fans Outraged By Reduced Servings
In social networks, there is a vigorous discussion of changing the shape of the famous Toblerone chocolate: for the sake of economy, dessert manufacturers have reduced the number of triangles and increased the gaps between them - now chocolate looks ridiculous and resembles parking for bicycles, and large packaging weighs 360 grams instead of 400.
Under the #ToblerGone tag ("Toblerone is no more"), the grieving sweet teeth share their assumptions about the "real" reason for changing the chocolate design. Many people joke that “brexit” is to blame - the exit of Great Britain from the European Union, and these are only the first horrific consequences of this political decision. “Was it really worth the“ brexit ”?”, Twitter users write. Pessimists suggest that by 2020 there will be only one triangle left in Toblerone. Apparently, the reduction applies only to the UK, and in other countries where Toblerone is produced, the portion size will remain the same.
The company Mondelez International, which produces Toblerone, explained the change in the design by increasing the price of ingredients (except for milk chocolate, there is nougat, honey and almonds in the dessert).
Some fear that other sweets will suffer the same fate:
