Clutch-cases in the autumn-winter collections

IN A CONSTANT WONDERZINE HEAD talks about trends from the podium that can be adapted for your wardrobe for the next six months. In this issue we understand why small clutches on a fastener made of wood, metal, plastic and other hard materials are so popular.

How it all began

In the XIX century, women's dress becomes simpler: very heavy crinolines and, among other things, pockets disappear. Then clutches appear. First they are worn by Josephine Beaugarne, and behind her fashion picks up the entire privileged class. The smaller the handbag, the better, of course: the bags of large size were the lot of commoners. New clutches are experiencing as early as the era of Art Deco and the Great Gatsby. In 1923, jeweler Alfred Van Cleef creates the Asian collection, which includes elegant versions of red and black ebony travel bags with golden dragons - such prototypes of clutch-cases. Well, by the 1930s, clutches are becoming mainstream - however, the Second World War is approaching, and women are somehow not up to them.

Clutch-boxes are returned to women's wardrobes in the 1950s, but, like elegant handbags, they reach their peak already in the 60s and 70s. Recall, for example, the Hungarian handbag designer Judith Leiber, who at the time was creating box-shaped clutches of unimaginable colors and shapes: in the form of pineapples, tits, shells — all in crystals. Since then, such handbags show all brands with their line of accessories: Alexander McQueen achieved the greatest success, having re-released one model in a hundred combinations of decor and colors, and Bottega Veneta, who made the knot of all possible types of leather.

How to wear clutch cases now

Now such bags are more likely part of an evening dress: it is unlikely that a Stella McCartney marble clutch or Valentino metallized with many small pearls will be worn in everyday life. Similarly, you can add a dress to the party, of course, not forgetting common sense: after all, with an unusual shape or too many sparkles, it is easy to overdo it. Tight-shaped clutches can fit into a more casual bow. For example, plastic bags, through which you can see their contents, girls from street-style blogs are ready to wear every day. Yes, and simpler models - from monochromatic dark leather or suede - will completely go for an everyday bag.

BEWARE!

It is worth to ignore too recognizable models of clutch-cases like Alexander McQueen or Olympia Le-Tan and, of course, fakes on them. When choosing an elegant bag, pay attention to new brands: for example, Edie Parker, Rauwolf or Reece Hudson. After all, this is the way to find a clutch bag made of cut glass or a clutch in the form of M & M's.
