London Fashion Week: Day Three

Probably, the phrase about girls, friends and diamonds is somewhat outdated, or simply the formula has become simpler: apparently, the best friends of the girls are small dogs. At the show Mulberry the models were walking the dogs again. Last season they were pugs, this time terriers. At the same time, Mulberry as a very social brand that invites its famous clients or, say, friends to the shows, strongly encourages the idea of bringing their dogs to the show - in the first row, for example, sat a huge St. Bernard in a silk scarf and with a Mulberry mini bag instead of a collar , and with another miniature doggie, the hostess covered her eyes with her hand each time a terrier was taken by - so that she didn’t worry. In general, Mulberry is very fond of animals and wildlife. This time the Claridges were filled with trees with birds, mosses and stuffed foxes. On invitations, depending on the sector, chipmunks, hedgehogs, squirrels and birds were drawn, cupcakes were in the form of fly-agaric, cookies - in the form of fox-heads, and on the soundtrack the matchless Mr. Fox.

Mulberry cupcakes are not the only ones at Fashion Week: in fact, cakes or less elegant food are always around. Before the shows, Topshop runs a cafe with micro scrambled eggs and muffins in the morning and soup, salads and brownies in the afternoon. The organizers are well aware that there is no physically enough time to go somewhere between shows; there are buses waiting at the exit, which rush through traffic jams and come to the next show minute by minute. After a few days on the Pret-a-manger sandwiches, hot soup and fish pie seem like the best food ever.

Show Unique Katy Grand has been styling for years, and her style is very easy to recognize. Dalmatian prints are accompanied by painted black noses of models, plus each one has two punk tight buns of hair on the head. Katie is able to do everything she does, so that all projects - shows, shootings, Love magazine - are completely different from each other, but similar to her.

The third day is generous to the sites: almost all of them are scattered around the city and are extremely unusual. Hilary Alexander grumbles on Twitter that it would be good for her to have a helicopter to keep up everywhere, but for a visiting editor everything turns into a fascinating excursion. Hotel Claridges. Center of Covent Garden Theaters. Drapers' Hall, where, in particular, filmed "The King Says!", Which just this week goes to the Russian rental. And in the evening - the main location of the day, the British Museum.

Soft carpets of richly cleaned Drapers' Hall are played a couple of times with models on the show. Antonio Berardi wicked joke: the intricately arched (more precisely, concave inward) heels of Manolo Blahnik shoes drown in the carpet, and the girls stumble. True, the wicked-looking shoes are often hidden under glittering dresses on the floor, wide trousers, or the girl is wearing such inviting, translucent lace that you don’t pay attention to what is happening below.

Matthew Williamsonwhich showed a collection last season in the giant premises of the abandoned Battersea power station, where it was extremely difficult to reach, this time took pity and invited everyone to the area of Victoria Station, to a spacious white hall with a transparent ceiling. The ceiling of its role has not played, because it has already begun to darken. True, excess dresses with iridescent details, elements from voluminous fur, fringe and feathers (which sometimes effectively flew off right on the go) and with scarlets of scarlet color looked much better in artificial light.

Richard Nicholl the neutral, gray room of the new Topshop Venue was also suitable in its own way. His minimalism of various kinds — business, monastic, hospital, or sports — only won against the background of even gray walls.

Last day show - Temperley. They chose the British Museum, with a huge white marble courtyard under a glass roof and a fascinatingly spacious and solemn hall, where nothing had happened before. It was a very gentle, girlish, but discreet display - with a mass of references to Chanel. Black trouser suits, white dresses in rhinestones with neat collars, evening dresses with occasional splashes of beige and red. Even the show was over very shanelevski - the models were lined up on wide staircases.

After the show, Temperley all went to the after party at the groucho club in Soho. Tired editors after a couple of vodka-based cocktails go not to dance, but to sleep; those who have just arrived are left to have fun all night long, awaiting their acquaintances from the Mulberry party at Claridges.
