LFW Day 5

On the fifth day of London Fashion Week, everyone was waiting for only one event - the evening show Burberry Prorsum. In honor of the 25th anniversary and for the first time in several seasons, an English fashion house led by Christopher Bailey was supposed to present his collection not in Milan, but in his home country. Burberry was not a joke, and the other designers who exhibited on September 22, unfortunately, were deprived of both the attention of the press and important guests at the shows. And in vain ...

Peter Jensen

An intriguing show-improvisation presented the already eccentric Peter Jensen. Instead of the usual and boring katvork, Jensen decided to make a presentation, choosing the Institute of Modern Art as a platform for the show. This season, the designer created a collection along with an American photographer Laurie Simmons, known for her “doll” photo projects. For the presentation, Jensen specially created cardboard versions of her models, which imitated poses from fashion magazines of the 60s and 70s, which Simmons then captured on film in the interiors of doll houses. Among the cardboard versions of designs and gigantic sizes of photo prints, which were exhibited in two halls of the Institute of Modern Art, defile live models, in dresses from the s / s10 collection. Inspired completely this season by Peter Laurie Simmons, Peter Jensen presented spring / summer in satin, denim and cotton “ballroom” dresses, sports suits in the spirit of America in the 50s, yellow overalls and bright blue and pink low-cut sundresses. The whole collection, as well as all the creations of Jensen, is seasoned with a good portion of humor and childishness, which does not allow all his girlish outfits to become too sweet.

Jonathan saunders

Jonathan Saunders, who previously exhibited at New York Fashion Week and won absolute recognition there, is returning to London this season with an impeccable, transparent collection. Textured dresses of graphic forms made of transparent silk and organza were almost colorless, representing a gamut of pure white and pastel shades. Creating a collection, Saunders was inspired by the Swedish vampire film Let the Right One In and his "pharmaceutical" mood, as well as minimalistic fashion photography from the early 90s. This season, many designers are talking about transparent colors, and Jonathan Saunders with his “pale” collection only confirms the beginning of the “transparent” trend.

Burberry prorsum

  • Christopher Bailey and the face of the company Burberry Emma Watson

So, Burberry Prorsum ... a long-awaited show that should complete London Fashion Week, celebrating 25 years this year. The number of guests arriving exceeded all the "star" limits - Gwyneth Paltrow, Liv Tyler, Stella McCartney, Mary Kate Olsen, Daisy Lowe, Anna Wintour, Carine Roitfeld, Freida Pinto, Alexa Chung, Agyness Deyn, Erin O'Connor ... What was he show? It is not surprising that with such a list of celebrities in the first row, the show moved into second place, and in truth, Christopher Bailey did not show anything unpredictable this season. Everything remained in its place, as befits Burberry - trench coats, cashmere, bags with the famous cage and Prorsum logo and beige color, although in some places diluted with pale pink and lilac. Easy transformation was acquired only by some models of macs - super mini length, crystal inlay and sleeve puffs. The Burberry Prorsum message this season is unlikely to change either - drapery, deluxe and glamor ... Unless the age of potential customers, with the current face of the brand and Harry Potter star Emma Watson, has become more youthful. And the best confirmation of this is the lineup from The Kooks group at the after party of the Burberry Prorsum show.
