Editor'S Choice - 2024

Report: Alexander Terekhov FW 2012

At the show of Alexander Terekhov, we come to the designated 19:30. Editors are not allowed into the backstage, so our photographer Vanya is sweeping away for everyone. We look at the pictures and think - among such beauty and we would like to work.

Hairstyles models, clearly sending us to the 1920s, complements the makeup of the 1990s. Valery Filippova, chief M.A.C makeup artist, says: "We used innovative textures of hypermetallic bronze shades: on the eyes, on the cheekbones and on the lips. It turned out to be a very feminine image, but at the same time very strict." "By the way," adds Valeria, "after the show, no model asked us for a remuver or wet wipes to remove makeup, each of them wanted to continue her evening in this image." I wouldn’t have wanted to: they wouldn’t let me go to the “evening”.

The show takes place at the factory "Bolshevik". Once in the room with tiled walls and shabby pipes, we can hardly imagine secular ladies in silk dresses from Terekhov. In vain we experience: we do not have time to look back - they are already in the front ranks.

When editors and stylists join the army of Terekhov’s clients, the show begins. We immediately like well-cut coats and jackets with sloping shoulders - as it turns out later, with a cut in the collection there are no problems at all, and silk dresses with a bell skirt look iconic in this regard. But the cut is separate from the print, and the print separately from the fabric is not appreciated - and in this simple chain the designer failed. The print with rowan, which looked so breathtaking on white and emerald chiffon, should be used with caution on satin silk - if it looked good on sea blue, then it wasn’t expensive on gradient green, red and blue.

Alexander's inspiration - Grace Kelly - was clearly visible in lace dresses, although I would rather like to mention blouses - light and translucent, reminiscent of the Victorian era. I also sent the image of an intellectual to the princess. Bows with dull-buttoned shirts, pullovers draped over shoulders, midi-skirts, sheepskin coats, and horn-rimmed glasses looked, not to say otherwise, cute. Nice, but not risky. And for the risky Terekhov, we already miss the second season.
