Nineteen-year-old Madison Leyes grew up in the western end of Toronto, where, according to her, the worst neighborhoods of the city are located. Therefore, the girl herself grew tomboy, did not like school and did not limit herself in behavior. Thinking once about work and future life, Madison put the phrase “work that allows you to travel a lot” into Google’s search box. As a result, she came across a modeling business. But finding a job was not so easy - several agencies refused her. In the end, the attempts led her to Elmer Olsen Model Management, who at one time helped start her career as Daria Verbova. A few weeks before the start of the SS 2012 shows, she signed a contract.
Almost immediately, Madison met with Miuccia Prada. The girl spent a month with the designer and her team: during the development of the spring-summer collection, she tried on bows every day. But the offer to walk on the brand show surprised the beginning model. Moreover, she was offered an exclusive contract for the spring-summer Prada show in Milan and Miu Miu in Paris.
“Before entering the podium, Miuccia held my hand — as I understood it was a kind of rehearsal,” Madison tells New York Magazine. “She is very restrained, but not cold. She’s just very focused on what she’s doing. And when you see her smile, you know that she is really happy. "
