How to create a summer mood in the apartment: 30 things for the home

Vanilla desire to go out on the porch in pajamas and with a cup of coffee, sit in a wicker chair and never hurry to visit at least once in the summer of every city dweller. Alas, not everyone has a country house (or the opportunity to leave for it). Fortunately, nothing prevents you from arranging a branch of a summer house in an apartment and surround yourself with things that will create that most carefree mood. We tell you what interior techniques and specific items will help you enjoy the summer, even within four walls. By the way, any cottage, if you still have it, they will also decorate.

Furniture

The most radical way to update the interior is, of course, redecoration or at least repainting the walls, but only the bravest are ready for it. They can come in handy with a collection of wallpapers created by Swede and St. Martins alumnae Hannah Werning in the best traditions of Scandinavian design. The main thing here is not to get carried away: prints are too active to glue over more than one wall, but this will be a literal interpretation of the phrase "breaking the 4th wall". Furniture with a distinct summer character will come to less resolute help: it is not at all necessary to buy a new bed or a wardrobe, even one small item that will overlap with very inexpensive accessories (about them later) will help. The main thing is that it should be from natural materials (however, this is a universal rule if you are not a fan of pop art): wood, rattan, stone, flax. Retro workings work well, for example, furniture in the spirit of the current 60s and 70s, which many of our parents sent into exile to the country. In general, forget about chipboard forever and do not be afraid to replace boring chairs, bedside tables or hangers for clothes that you never really liked. It will be useful even a wicker laundry basket, which nothing prevents to put in the living room, fold rugs or magazines into it and use as a bedside table or an attached table. A hammock in the corner of the living room or on the loggia is also a great idea, and don’t worry about hooks in the walls: you can always use them for BDSM fun.

Textile

It is no secret that well-chosen textiles can transform the saddest space - anyone who lived in a rented apartment knows about this firsthand. The fact that it is almost the cheapest and easiest way to change the appearance of the house plays into the hands: you don’t need to repaint or think about which friends would like to take you behind the furniture by car. Very well, if you have already made repairs in the apartment in the spirit of the Scandinavian minimalism that has been fashionable in recent years. Natural fabrics of “summer” colors like grass, turquoise, orange and shades of white will look great against the background of white walls, untreated wood and neutral shades. Pay attention to the characteristic textures, for example, the "grandmother's" blanket from crocheted squares and a pillow to it, as if sewn from a cardigan, or a carpet of woody and grassy shades, reminiscent of a lawn. Striped pillows, towels and other textiles with prints, including naive printed floral pattern, on the one hand, immediately brings back memories of summer in the village, on the other - it is quite in line with the 70s that returned to the fashion. The main thing is not to get carried away and pereobit whole house in the style of Provence.

Accessories

Pleasant little things like vases, mats for the table, frames for photos and other accessories can, if not completely change the atmosphere of the apartment, then precisely set the desired mood. In addition, this update will cost the interior relatively inexpensive. A knight's move, frontal and merciless - to get something woven, such as a wine basket-holder (always a good thing in the household) or a decorative bowl in which you can spread fresh Antonovka on the table. Vases made of stained glass or porcelain will come to the place - the more absurd and old-fashioned, the better, because to the country they usually bring everything that does not fit morally into sterile urban comfort. If you are ready to spend money, you can look towards the table lamps: lampshades with floral prints, tassels and unusual legs have a great decorative potential. In general, accessories open up a giant field for experimentation, the main thing is to stop in time, so as not to lower all the money on endless cute things. You can even "shift" the floor - tiles from wooden slats, which are in the range of OBI or IKEA, are best suited for a balcony, but you can make them and flooring in the bathroom instead of a rug.

Dishes

Nothing is rotated in the house like dishes: even the most favorite plates sooner or later acquire chips or cracks, and the glasses fly to the floor at noisy parties, even if you hid them from guests in the depth of the cabinet (checked, does not help). Any site with household utensils is capable even in a person indifferent to food and its preparation, to awaken the inner cook, who will start to flip back somersaults. For example, when you see a board with a container for sauces. In turn, the appearance of such a board in the house would entail the appearance of various cheeses in the refrigerator, mastering the recipes of bruschetta, and so on. By the way, if the thought of its fragility has always stopped you from buying expensive beautiful dishes, then there is a tricky way to protect yourself and your investments. Nothing evokes the thought of a summer cottage more than a pottery - and no one reanimates enameled basins, mugs and kettles like the English Falcon. Their whole appearance hints that small chips of enamel or scratches will in no way spoil them, or maybe even benefit the nostalgic spirit.

Flowers

Flowers may scare off at first with difficulty in care. It is not easy for an inexperienced person in garden affairs to understand the variety of watering, feeding, lighting, and other intricacies of several plants at once. Do not let all this confuse you - with flowers the interior is always nicer than without. We advise the inexperienced to start home gardening with succulents or some evergreens that do not require complex care. You can arrange a mini-garden in one pot, planting several plants at once. The same trick works with beautifully flowering herbs or the most common grass. Lawn in its simplicity wins any frilly flower. If you have animals, be sure to consult first with a veterinarian or, at worst, the Internet. They will probably want to try the plants on the tooth, with many flowers may be poisonous. If your cat or dog can do nothing, then they probably can be ordinary grass from the pet store - in a long pot it will look great and will not harm anyone.

Aromas

Even if your apartment already looks like a country house, and it is so cozy on the balcony that you want to spend the whole summer there, this may not be enough, especially when exhausting gases from a wide avenue from the window. The situation can be corrected by fresh flowers, but it is not so easy to make permanent flowering and fragrance from houseplants, so we suggest cheating - to get a few scents for the house. Their shape can be any: classic scented candles not only smell cool, but also add comfort in the evenings, sachets can be arranged in a linen closet or beautifully laid out on the bedside table, and you can place the diffusers wherever you wish - even throughout the apartment. In terms of the aromas themselves, to create a rustic atmosphere, it is logical to choose the smells of wildflowers and herbs, but if suddenly you have a dacha associated with the fir forest, feel free to light a coniferous candle.
