Architect Masha Kachalova about favorite outfits

FOR RUBBER "WARDROBE" we take pictures of beautiful, original or strangely dressed people in their favorite things and ask them to tell related stories. This week, our heroine is an architect in the Wowhaus bureau and co-founder of the St. Petersburg bureau of the Rhizome Group, Masha Kachalova. She spoke about the relationship of fashion and architecture, love for monochrome colors and unusual textures, as well as things for a tall girl.

As an architect, I create sheaths for stay, and clothes are the first sheath in which you exist. In architecture and clothing, I prefer minimalism, but I also admire baroque palaces or renaissance palaces. I hope to learn how to wear and things from textured and bright fabrics with a complex finish. In general, my wardrobe is mostly dark tones. There was even a period when I wore only black and blue-black things. I think the choice of color is influenced by the fact that I am from St. Petersburg. At the same time, I actively use ornaments and color in my work, compensating for their absence in the wardrobe. I prefer things of free cut, although if necessary I can wear a sheath dress. Always pay attention to the fabric and cut things. Expressive eye makeup or bright lipstick and manicure for me is an accessory.

Monki Raincoat, Uniqlo T-shirt, A.P.C. Shorts, Zara Bag and Sandals, Monki Earrings

Short shorts, a simple white T-shirt and a free raincoat - this is how I look on weekdays, when I'm going to go to the opening of the exhibition in the evening or have a drink with my friends. I like the fact that you can wrap up in a raincoat and it will be cozy, as well as how long earrings emphasize the neck. By the way, I am always lucky with shoes in Zara: I have my size, I am satisfied with the material and nothing falls apart. I know that I am an exception.

Cyrille Gassiline coat, Weekday jeans, Uniqlo sweater, Jil Sander boots, untitled earrings

The massive coat caused controversy among loved ones because of the volume and length. I like it and brings thoughts of the dear heart of Berlin. Weekday and wards brands are one of the few whose things fit well on tall people with long legs and arms. Apparently, because the Swedes are such. True to Weekday jeans for many years.

I really like the shade of International Klein Blue. The color of this wool sweater is as close as possible to it. I like how the sweater looks with white and yellow metal decorations. By the way, a girlfriend from Oslo brought earrings as a gift, saying that the architect should have such. I do not argue!

COS jacket, Cheap Monday jeans, Mango bra top, Whistles pumps

My version of pantsuit for the summer. However, it does not look formal. Largely due to accessories, straight cut of jeans and bra-top. Although black shoes - the top of officialdom, I think they should be in the wardrobe by default. By the way, the heel of this pair is pretty steady.

H & M jacket, Mango bra-top, H & M Studio pants, Puma x Alife sneakers, Weekday earring

This relaxed image is a tribute to youth when I wore "pipes" and listened to hip-hop. I like the lines of H & M Trend and Studio. There you can always find interesting things for ridiculous money and try on something completely new. Like, for example, this shaggy jacket. In these lines, the Swedes manage to harmoniously combine luxurious decorative elements such as sequins and stones with a simple cut. Puma silver mirrored sneakers are a very strong fit. I was inspired by a colleague to buy them, she has similar ones, only Nike.

Zara sweater, H & M studio pants, Topshop slip-ons, ring - gift

Since Zara has chosen the Céline for the Poor strategy, it has become possible for color tellers like me to find bright and at the same time neutral things. This combination is due to a single shot from the POP magazine. It was a lot of knitwear, "noodles" and wide trousers. In the ring - balls of natural stone; like the combination of red and blue.

COS dress, Nike sneakers

A little more black. Dress was found in Milan. I go to professional architectural exhibitions, but still bring clothes. The dress is complicated to wear: the whole is pleated and the fabric is thin, but it flows beautifully! I balance his lightness with coarse shoes or sneakers.

Maison Kitsuné top, Prairie for Weekday skirt, Zara bag, H & M sandals, Gorky Park badge

This is an outfit for every summer day. Top - the only red thing in the wardrobe, and for good reason. I suffered severe acne, and any red thing highlighted my face like a lantern. It's all over now. Like the armhole top, orange tint and little chanterelle on the label.

The skirt is made of the softest skin and turned out to be a super versatile thing. Even in summer it is not hot. However, rather, this is our summer. The badge was presented by a friend when we together made an installation for Gorky Park last summer.

White Acne Studios shirt, Zara bag, MM6 Maison Margiela skirt, Puma x Alife sneakers

What could be more concise than a white shirt and a black narrow skirt? With all the simplicity, they are quite intricate - a deliberately large pocket at the shirt and zipper in the opposite direction on the skirt. So you can safely go for a long meeting in the Moscow City Park or KGIOP and among the officials rejoice that under the table on their feet are mirror-silver sneakers.

Top COS, culottes and sandals H & M, Mango jewelery, nameless clutch

If not black, then white is my life motto. The image is simple but saturated due to the texture and cut of things. The top was loved by its material: at the same time it resembles sheep wool and antique Christmas toys made of cotton. Culottes conquered double folds. By the way, according to the authors, they should have been just pants, but I am too tall. However, this model is even good.

Black Pepper Dress, COS Boots, Asya Malbershtein Briefcase

I truly love black. I feel completely comfortable in black from head to toe. In such a dress you can go to a business meeting and not be distracted by anything. The shirt dress belonged to the older sister during her school years, so it is almost vintage. He was brought by his uncle-captain from the next voyage. The dress has very cool mother-of-pearl buttons. I think it is eternal. Nothing happens to him.

For eternity claims and portfolio. A lot of things fit into it, but at the same time it remains flat. I like what Asya does. She has very high quality bags. It's nice that they can be found on a nearby street in his native Petersburg.

Dress Henrik Vibskov, COS boots

I bought a dress with sleeves in the Vibskov store in Copenhagen. I must say, the store is a complete aesthetic pleasure and a whole world of designer. The dress has beautiful drapes on the back, and due to the muted colors, a play of light in the folds is obtained. Very architectural dress. Received a diploma in him and married close friends.

Boots are universal, fit almost everything. Come with me from Rotterdam. Before the Netherlands, by the way, I did not dare to wear even small heels: I am rather tall, but there my height was average.

Sweater & Other Stories, Prairie for Weekday Skirt, COS Shoes, Topshop Bracelet

Sweater - a tribute to seven years of academic drawing at the university. While I was painting ancient heads, I did not feel any attachment to them, but now I felt like it. Antique print, it seems to me, dilutes the aggressiveness of metal and leather and keeps the combination of colors.

Perfumes (untitled) Maison Martin Margiela and Infusion d'Iris Prada

(untitled) Maison Martin Margiela - a fragrance for every day. Unsweetened, slightly dry. The first bottle bought in Milan mono-brand. Until now it seems to me that it is richer than the "colleagues" bought in St. Petersburg and Moscow.

Infusion d'Iris Prada is a very gentle and personal fragrance, a gift from the closest person. I spend very carefully, I'm afraid of the day when they run out.

Jewelry (earrings, pendants) Weekday, Cheap Monday, Urban Outfitters, Mango, СOS

All these abstract pieces are drawn to the collection and are associated with acquaintances with me. I usually wear one thing - or a bracelet, or a pendant, or earrings.

Bracelets COS, Cheap Monday, Topshop

I like how massive geometric decorations look on thin wrists. Bracelets were given to me by men. Cheap Monday cube was freaked out, but still loved. I helped on the diploma's defense: while I was talking about the project and showed where it was with my hand, the whole commission was watching the bracelet, and not yawning around.

Badges "Arrows", Gorky Park, Holy Fox, Radiohead

I love small metal icons. I get something as a gift, I buy something for memory myself, for example the icon of my favorite Radiohead band - from a Prague concert many years ago.

Everything is clear with the Strelka and Gorky Park. Silver halo - a gift from a work colleague and co-owner of a wonderful place, which, unfortunately, closed over the weekend.
