"Love City": 24 Kiss on the cover of The New York Times Magazine

Worldwide editions regularly produce outstanding covers - and we show them to you.

The New York Times Magazine has released a special issue "Love City", dedicated to love in New York. For the cover, photographer Ryan McGinley shot twenty-four kissing couples - and the characters here are very different. Found them in social networks: in the first two days, employees collected more than a thousand applications. As the editor-in-chief of the publication Jake Silstein says, people were put in a pick-up truck and photographed against the backdrop of a city rushing past. All pictures were taken on the same day - May 19, from noon to midnight.

Choosing a topic and strongly limiting the time frame, we wanted to convey a magical cluster of proximity in the city. We wanted to show how the intimate unity of a couple in love turns out to be contrasted to the boiling energy of a noisy crowd - in turn, consisting of countless lovers who remain the center of their own universe despite the noise around.
