Designer and stylist Maria Ovchinnikova about favorite outfits
FOR RUBBER "WARDROBE" we take pictures of beautiful, original or strangely dressed people in their favorite things and ask them to tell related stories. This week, our heroine - designer and stylist Maria Ovchinnikova.

The idea of a plurality of styles is close to me - it is sometimes interesting to experiment, try on different roles, watching the inner sensations and perceptions of others. Most often, though, I prefer practical things: in everyday life I just want to feel comfortable and not attract attention - it helps to concentrate.
The first thing that comes to mind when I think about what influenced my style is endless exhibitions and a lot of beautiful and very unusually dressed artists who have surrounded me since childhood. My parents met at the Petlura show, so working with clothes was like a designation for me.
In early childhood my great-grandmother sewed clothes, her husband was a tailor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. She had golden hands, and she often altered things or used the remnants of other products - it turned out such waste-free production. At the same time, the great-grandmother always carefully selected materials according to colors and textures, so that in the end we got real designer models. Mom, as I can remember, always dressed me in second-hand. For me it was such an attraction: you enter the basket with rags and find some treasure like a shirt made of boiled silk. Mom lovingly collected such shirts all her life, and now I buy them too.
In general, the composition for me plays a crucial role when choosing clothes, I prefer natural fabrics. If synthetic material appears in my wardrobe, then this is either outerwear or some important artifact for me, hooked with a print, texture or cut. I can wear these things for a special occasion or simply store as a work of art.

This dress is from the diploma collection of my girlfriend Alina Lobanova, she has completely collected it from old knitted things of different shades of red. I respect people who adhere to the principles of ethical fashion and resort to upsayklingu. We shot the lookbook of this collection in front of the school of design, where I study, pretty then fun passers-by.
Top apron made designer from St. Petersburg Anya Druzhinina. Excellent thing that makes any look elegant. It is especially pleasant that all the collections of its M_U_R brand are made only from natural fabrics produced by Russia. I seldom buy shoes in the mass market, but in this case I was attracted by a massive sole and a good shape.
Vintage earrings
Jacket of own design, second-hand jeans, boots from Vintage Goods store, bag from Vienna
The jacket is part of a completely fresh project about the penetration of the virtual into the real, such an illustration on the theme of the "Black Mirror" in clothes. My young man, who participated in all stages of production, helped me a lot with this jacket, so I consider the project a joint one. White trousers and jeans are a special love, I surprise everyone in winter (including myself) with perfectly clean trouser legs. She found a chocolate bag on the last day of her trip to Vienna.
Befree Earrings
Earrings, which I unexpectedly found in the store Befree, where I needed to take things for shooting. Cost a penny, but immediately became the most beloved.

That's how I usually look. Jeans Levi's 501 found in my mother - the soul in them is not tea. They have the best fit, but the fabric does not stretch at all, so I don’t wear them so often. A jacket is a pleasant find from the Specific Market, my favorite place in Petersburg with vintage things. He is made of fine wool and very light, wore it almost every day all last year.
It's hard to imagine me without the Forms bag - there is not much that fits in this baby, so I use it as a wallet. This is the most indestructible thing: high-quality leather and perfectly fitting accessories. She was presented to me by her designer brand Nastya Komarova - an architect by training, who at some point was carried away by the production of bags.
Mass market earrings

This top in combination with a jacket - a kind of embodiment of the ideas of beauty from adolescence. In my mind, the images from the zero clips are densely entrenched, and for some reason they were embodied only now. Cutouts on the back, in my opinion, look much more interesting than the neckline or mini length. But, if you throw something on top of this top, you get a discreet, even a strict image.
A funny story came out with a jacket - it started our cooperation with one of the favorite stores Total Vintage. At first I found it in instagram and thought that this is one of the few vintage projects that causes real delight. Later, a photo of this jacket appeared, and I immediately fell in love - it was difficult for me to explain this even to myself, because I had never been attracted to animalistic prints, rather they were even frightened. There was no money to buy, but it was in the shower. A week later, I accidentally met Sasha, the creator of the store, began to help with the shooting and received a reward in the form of a cherished jacket, which I was extremely happy about.

My mother was friends with Garik Assa, an important representative of the avant-garde fashion of the Soviet period and a real punk - it was he who taught her to walk around second-hand. Once we found this certificate at home, and my classmate Dasha Lukash made a print of her as part of her project Assa 2.0. Only then it turned out that the document was fake, it was printed by fellow artists Garik for a laugh. Pleated skirt as paper: keeps the shape and beautifully wringed in motion.
Vintage earring
I borrowed vintage earrings from a friend two years ago for a corporate party - as a result, due to the fact that we rarely see each other, I have earrings left. With their appearance, my love for big earrings began.

When choosing outerwear, I most often adhere to the principle “the more the better” - this cloak just remained in the store in the size of XL. I was attracted by his brevity and fabric - I have a special love for the raincoat. Plus, he has a curious cut: in the front sleeve vtachnoy, and behind - raglan.
Unbelievable skirt - I found it in the home bins and fell in love with the delicate milky color and length to the floor. A cashmere top sewn by my friend Dasha Belousova is part of a set of underwear. Thanks to the fabric and the uniform, it looks like a complete wardrobe item, which in summer can be worn instead of a tank top
I can easily be recognized by the stupid "Versace" belt: I bought it for fifty rubles on the Udelnaya, and since then I have been wearing it almost every day, clinging to all the bags in a row. Specifically, this is a prototype from the collection of the brand Circle of Unity, in the creation of which I was lucky to participate.

Real anti-stress - the case has a pleasant to the touch texture. These pimples resemble braille in many ways.

I sewed this belt bag when I was still in college. It is from a curious fabric - technical felt, which usually upholstered mattresses. I feel in her very much like in a bulletproof vest. Not the most practical thing, of course, but if you wear it in winter under a jacket, then the back will not exactly blow through.
Dress from the perfect cotton mesh - I really like the combination of transparency and at the same time the density of the material. Funny vintage slippers New Balance create comfort anywhere. When I put them on, any unfamiliar street seems to be a native court.

Dress from my recent training project. We chose a certain designer, studied the brand's DNA, and proposed our own concepts, as if we were appointed the chief designer of the chosen brand. I decided not to go far, and I wanted to personally communicate with Tigran Avetisyan for a long time - I’m very close to his work. So thanks to my project “Just Fake It” (in which I am ironic about fakes), I ended up in the Tigran workshop, discussed the concept with him, and the designer seam at the back was made by the designer, who turned out to be an incredibly open and responsive person. She bought a shawl because of the color and ridiculous branding.
The mirror is one of the favorite gifts. My friend found him in the depths of an antique shop in Vienna. First I heard a long story about this almost sacred object for the host, and then I saw the mirror itself and squealed with delight, after which it was presented to me.
