Makeup artist Victoria Schneider in her living room
RUBRIC "ROOM"dedicated to the place in which a person spends most of his time. It can be absolutely any space: a huge kitchen in which the hero works and rests, an art gallery that has become the second home of its owner, or just a living room in a one-room apartment, which is at the same time office, bedroom and secret place. The space in which a person is able to focus on himself and his affairs and not feel himself a participant in the eternal race of a big city. In our new issue - makeup artist Victoria Schneider in her living room in a house on Novinsky Boulevard.
When we were looking for an apartment, the district was important to us - we lived in it before this for about four years, since our whole life is concentrated in the center. It's all within walking distance. In addition, I like to use the main buses around the ring - like Uber, only cheaper and without traffic jams.
We wanted to move for about a year and constantly looked at the options for Cian. The apartment itself was found at the end of March, but they did not count on it. The fact is that the photographs did not understand where the windows go, but for us this is the main criterion. In the last apartment with the windows to the courtyard it was impossible to live peacefully - they were constantly noisy there day and night. Here the windows overlook the Garden Ring. When it rains in the morning, you wake up as if to the sound of the sea. In addition, we are accustomed to the monotonous noise, now it is strange when it does not exist. Interestingly, the owner said that for many potential tenants this, on the contrary, was a big minus of the apartment.
Space
We were lucky, and the repair before the move did not have to. The actress, who rented an apartment before us, painted the walls white and then immediately moved out.
I adore when there is a lot of light, huge windows and parquet. I can not imagine how the old beautiful floor can ruin a new laminate. I especially like stucco in this room: when we saw it for the first time, it was “wow”. I noticed the chandelier in the ad and immediately fell in love; husband, however, at first wanted to change it, but in the end left. True, we do not use the main lighting and in the evenings we turn on only the lamps. But it revives the interior.
Helmet bought in Asia - now it reminds of the most rainy journey a month long. To the right - an old Canon; Victoria sometimes shoots
When we moved in, the apartment was almost empty - we just threw away some inappropriate elements of the interior, like old curtains. It's nice that there is a separate dressing room, which means that the living room does not need a wardrobe. Some of the things, such as a bed and a mattress, we transported from the last apartment, some bought in addition - there is enough space here. In the future, we plan to change the sofa or put chairs in its place. I would also like to add plain linen curtains and pillows to the bed - after all, they add comfort to the house - and buy another palm tree, and maybe not one.
Most often in this room we are alone. With friends we are going mainly in the kitchen - the benefit is a large table. It was important for us to create a multifunctional space in this room. Many people say that working and relaxing in the same room is inconvenient, but it all came together. The main work is outside the home, and in our living room we can afford to sleep and finish things at the computer.
About furniture and plants
We buy some small things for the house on trains, in vintage markets or flea markets. In Moscow, I can go to Zara Home and H & M Home. I call the area near the wall "cafe"; we bought a coffee table for it in Woodi. We also have things from IKEA - a mirror and a dresser; but there we are rarely, rather out of necessity. In general, I really like a dresser for cosmetics: there is a lot of it and without it I would not know how to store all this.
Recently, we were discussing with someone that at school age we were dismissive of flowers on window-sills - and now the opposite is true. The last apartment was smaller, and we could not afford many plants, but here, in a good way, there is enough light and space. Our move, moreover, almost coincided with the birthday of her husband, and therefore friends immediately gave us a lot: a tangerine tree, a spathiphyllum, and pepper. The big palm tree was ordered on Gardengrove.
