To whom to subscribe: Woven paintings based on self and sexting
CONTINUE TO TELL about decent accounts in social networks through which you can view the whole world.
Young Brooklyn artist Erin M. Riley documents the lives of women of her generation, using intimate correspondence, instant messengers, footage from porn and "random" still lifes as the basis for selfies. It reproduces snapshots or screenshots made on the phone on the fabric - so insignificant at first glance pictures of life turn into illustrations for the author's intimate experiences. Previously, Erin took photographs of unfamiliar women from social networks, cutting out images of faces, but in the past few years she uses her own pictures: for example, the 4am Hookup Prep canvas reproduces a cut photo that the artist herself accidentally took when she met her friend at four in the morning and decided to shave her legs "just in case."
