The other day, the singer launched AVANTgarden magazine - the first number can only be viewed on the social network. The release was called "Roots. Shock. Beauty": it is dedicated to pigtails and dreadlocks, as well as identity and African heritage.
“I have a complicated background and a complicated relationship with my hair,” says the singer, who has Jamaican and Spanish roots. “For non-white people, hair texture is a very big question. I heard horrible stories about how girls came to school with pigtails , and the teachers ordered them to be knotted or even clipped right in the classroom. " Zina's photographs resemble images from hairdressers for people of African descent — and in honor of the launch, FKA twigs spoke with Twitter subscribers about how they relate to pigtails, and asked them how they look after their hair and preserve their natural texture.
