Finnish artist crochet copies of their friends

"GUILTY PLEASURE" IS TRANSLATED AS A "SHAME OF PLEASURE". Frankly, we have long been not ashamed of things that like or are of interest - just a convenient phrase.

A couple of days ago, waves of the Russian-speaking Internet carried us a photograph of two twin grandmothers with twin dogs - with the signature “Grandmother bound herself to a double”. In fact, everything is even more interesting: the Finnish artist Liisa Hietanen, who lives in the village of Hämeenkyrö, made knitted twins. She crochets exact full-size copies of her neighbors and acquaintances, animals and interior items: people come to pose for her, and then take pictures with their counterparts at Hietanen exhibitions. She not only achieves portrait resemblance, but also reproduces in detail the clothes and shoes that the hero wears - just look at these knitted Nike sneakers and watches!

The first work of the artist in an unusual technique was a sculpture of Pirkko, depicting a primary school teacher. According to Hietanen, she decided to make a knitted figure, since "the technique was perfect for this character." Then Hietanen made knitted twins of her brother and other acquaintances, but she didn’t stop at people: in her knitted world there is a porcelain plate with a pie, a bag of groceries just brought from the store, and a whole room - a toilet with a knitted toilet, sink, tile and a trash bin.
