Link of the day: Flight attendants on age and weight discrimination in Aeroflot

IN THE RUBRIC "LINK OF THE DAY" We recommend materials from other publications on topics that deserve attention. Today we advise you to pay attention to the material of Radio Liberty about discrimination in Aeroflot: the journalists spoke with several experienced flight attendants who filed a lawsuit against the company because of discrimination.

Flight attendants who jokingly call the STS group - “old, fat, scary” - said that last year the company began to put pressure on employees over 40 or with clothes over 46, reducing their salaries and making them unable to work on international flights that are better paid. The new policy of the company harms not only the flight attendants themselves, but also the passengers: as the president of the Sheremetyevsk trade union of flight crews noted, young flight attendants who are put on international flights are less experienced and may incorrectly behave in a critical situation.

It happened last June: we were all told that now only young and thin will fly abroad at Aeroflot. We were all massively photographed and measured, some were even weighed - this was done under the pretext of re-branding the airline and ordering a new form for employees. All those who were older than 40 and who have clothes more than the 48th, stopped putting on foreign flights. We were all brought to the office number 1, making us a real torture: left only the night and short morning flights. Two hours there, two back, respectively, for two or three nights you normally do not sleep, because either you work or you get to work.

After futile attempts to achieve justice through the Federal Air Transport Agency, the transport prosecutor's office and the labor inspectorate, several flight attendants filed a lawsuit against the company. Hearings should be held in March, we will monitor the situation.
