Andrea Jiapei Li: Women's clothing with a hint of bandage and origami

IN THE WEEKLY RUBRIC "NEW MARK"Wonderzine presents young designers and tells where and how you can buy their things. Our heroine this week is the founder of the brand of the same name Andrea Jiapei Li, a graduate of the Parsons Masters course, shortlisted for the young designers H & M Design Award - 2015.

Andrea Jiapei Lee, 24, has already become part of a powerful wave of American designers with Asian roots and seems to be able to outshine such famous competitors as Alexander Wang, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Thakoon, Naeem Khan, Hanako Maeda in ADEAM, Derek Lam, Eudon Choi, Prabal Gurung, Bibhu Mohapatra and Jason Wu. A native of Beijing, Andrea, before moving to America, was selling her things in Beijing boutiques under the brand name Nothing Clothing. While studying in Parsons New York, the designer gained experience in the 3.1 Phillip Lim, Diane von Furstenberg and EDUN homes.

This year, the Andrea collection opened the general display of Parsons MFA graduates at New York Fashion Week and hit the Style.com reviews. The designer showed eight bows with deliberately voluminous things, sewn mainly from neoprene and mesh. On some of them, Andrea inscribed "I am what I am" and "I try to find myself". The proportions and cuts of things look cartoon, but at the same time knots and weaves, adorning skirts, tops and coats, refer to origami and bandage. All things Andrea Jiapei Li are designed flawlessly. Thanks to this collection, Andrea got into the short list of the H & M Design Award - 2015 and has every chance to get 50,000 euros and the opportunity to show her collection at Stockholm Fashion Week.

I do not like simple cute things, I do not like stripes and red. I concentrate on the silhouettes. Skinny is not cool. I like things of exaggerated volumes. I also fixated on the architectural cut. In Parsons, we have always been inspired and paid great attention to architecture. My heroine is not silent - she is going crazy. I like crazy girls. They stand out and do not plan anything in advance. They follow the emotions. After all, it is important for fashion that a person is happy.
