New online clothing stores, shoes and accessories

Text: Alena Belaya

online shopping for many of us almost replaced shopping trips: we all know the joy of seeing a notice of a parcel from Asos and news about the start of sales on Net-a-Porter. However, in addition to online stores, whose names we drive into the address bar with closed eyes, there are those that still remain outside the zone of mass attention. And it is worth looking at them.

Rennes

Rennes is a design studio in Boston that appeared six years ago. The roots of the brand, as is often the case, go back to the founder's childhood: Julia Okun admits that sewing has always been her favorite hobby and as a little girl, she continually repainted her mother's curtains in doll clothes. After graduating from college, she sewed a simple cut out of a piece of leather and, without really expecting anything, put it on sale on the Internet. To Julia’s surprise, the bag was bought the very next day, and there were enough people willing to buy the same one to make the first small print run. So the new designer decided to devote all her time to sewing, and today, in addition to her own bags and wallets, she makes various accessories, clothes and even ceramic dishes under the Rennes brand.

The site is generally very nice and resembles a show-room "only for its own": simple and clear navigation does not allow to drown in the abyss of things, the design in the spirit of Scandinavian minimalism is pleasing to the eye, and reasonable prices - to the wallet. The entire range of Rennes make small batches and exclusively by hand. Usually, the production of one or another thing begins after the placement of the order and takes from a week to three. In addition to Julia's own brand, you can find little known but worthy Base Range (make underwear and basic clothes), Lauren Manoogian (The Row style knitwear), Sylvain Le Hen (hair accessories) and Martiniano (shoes).

Spiritual america

New York gallery owner of French origin Claire Lemete together with her husband for several years supervised the Thierry Goldberg Gallery art space near Chinatown, until in 2011 she decided to move to a larger room and turn the vacant space into a fashionable boutique. This is how Spiritual America appeared - a small store designed in the concept of “affordable luxury”: the prices of things here do not increase above $ 1,000. By the way, this boutique name was not accidental: in 1983, the famous American artist and collageist Richard Prince held his exhibition "Spiritual America" in this place.

The online store almost verbatim repeats the assortment of its offline version and will definitely appeal to adherents of intellectual fashion: here you will not find frankly hit or flashy trendy things, but you will be satisfied with the choice of quiet, quality clothing of discreet colors. Already well-known European brands like Vanessa Bruno, Chalayan, Surface to Air and Wood Wood, and local local fashion business players Rachel Comey, United Bamboo and Thakoon, and the very young beginner New York designers Morgan Carper and Dusen Dusen. All international orders are delivered by the USPS US Postal Service (which means that, unfortunately, they will have to wait for them for more than one week for the residents of Russia), and for orders above $ 250, delivery will be free.

Girissima

Surfing the online boutique of Girissima reminds of a walk through the not-so-walked streets of European cities, when you accidentally stumble upon small shops with local brands, which are often not represented outside the country. The only thing that the geography of such brands is represented is wider and they are all collected in one place, which is undoubtedly a big plus. The concept of internationalism can also be traced in the approach to buyer selection: here, on one page, TM Collection dresses and Lanidor insulated parks coexist on the same page; It is obvious that the audience of the store is the inhabitants of both hemispheres.

Although world famous brands such as Manish Arora or French Connection are represented here, it’s worth going to the store behind the other: Bruuns Bazaar’s advanced Danish-designed design, dresses with interesting kaleidoscopic Nümph prints, Baum und Pferdgarten fashion weekly headlines, cool youth things Cameo and quality knitwear Tequila Solo. Also in a separate gallery on the site you can see how well-known fashion bloggers like Christina Bazan and Chiara Ferragny wear things in their lives. Delivery costing 40 euros promise to implement for ten days.

The mode collective

Carrie Bradshaw shopaholics have learned the addresses of online stores solestruck.com and shoescribe.com as a mantra: here, it seems, you can find any brand that has shoes in its product range. In addition, perhaps, the Australian The Mode Collective, long beloved editors of the Australian Vogue and fashion bloggers, but little-known in our area. Fortunately, the brand has its own online store, and there is something to look at: on the one hand, The Mode Collective operates rather replicated styles like birken shoes or sharp-toed mule shoes (which fashion brand doesn’t do this now?) but on the other hand it adds their own chips to them. For example, pulsliders are equipped with transparent vinyl inserts and a platform, and classic sleepers are equipped with metal plates. In addition, the brand fact of its existence confirms that the union of excellent quality and affordable prices is quite possible. The store delivers orders via DHL for 30 Australian dollars, however, due to customs conditions, temporarily slowed delivery to Russia.

Tinker tailor

A businesswoman of Icelandic origin with the difficultly surname Aslaug Magnusdottir was nicknamed in the fashion industry as the “fairy fairy godmother”. She began her career as an assistant in a modeling agency, after which she moved to the Baugur Group, a large investment company specializing in luxury retail. Aslaug really became a godmother to many emerging fashion brands: it was thanks to her efforts that the group provided funding to young designers. After moving to New York, Aslaug founded her own company, TSM Capital, which then invested in the well-known brands Rachel Roy and Matthew Williamson. In addition, there are a dozen successful projects in her portfolio: in particular, it was she who had a hand in creating a super successful Moda Operandi, an online store operating on the principle of trunk shows with the ability to pre-order items from the collections just shown.

Tinker Tailor is the latest offspring of Aslaug and a unique project that allows you not only to buy designer items, but to customize them as your heart desires. The scheme is simple: choose a thing, after which the site offers options for remaking: for example, you can order a dress not in beige, but in violet color, redo the sleeves, add or remove the finish, shorten the hem, or, on the contrary, make it longer. The list of brands available for customization is limited to five or six, but it is regularly updated. A separate item in Tinker Tailor is a section where, by the principle of the designer, you can assemble the perfect dress literally from scratch - and it will be your only one. Delivery is made by UPS for about $ 50 and at the same time quickly - in just four to six days.

CV New York

Until recently, Victoria's Secret and Agent Provocateur were considered to be retail monopolies in the field of lingerie: the first one at affordable prices cannot boast of decent quality, but you can’t look at price tags of the second one without internal shudder. However, today startups are gaining more and more popularity, ready to present a quality product at an adequate price, one of them is the New York Curriculum Vitae. The brand was launched only in July of this year, but large stores like Barneys, 10 Corso Como, Colette and Shopbop have already managed to buy it. Founder and designer of the brand Christina Viviani says that Curriculum Vitae "is intended to add the art of sensuality to the everyday life of women," but even in the most explicit sets there is not a single gram of vulgarity.

Christina admits that she is inspired by vintage underwear, which, to tell the truth, lurks only between the lines - her works cannot be called retrograde. Divine prices range from $ 30 per string to $ 400 per combidress. In addition to the actual underwear here you can find sexy pajamas and nightgowns - all made from silk of the highest quality and in discreet basic colors. A separate item is worth noting on the site section Pleasure with a variety of sex toys, again the authorship of Christina herself. Indeed, why not to order a Sakura clitoral stimulator or a vibrator with a USB port together with a semi-transparent bra? In the near future, the site promises to arrange delivery worldwide, and there is also a pleasant option to return goods, which is rarely practiced by anyone in the case of underwear.
