Micronidling: Fashionable and useful procedure for skin renewal.

We have repeatedly told why we need various cosmetic procedures, to whom they are actually shown, and why the prevalence of botulinum toxin injections and contour plastics is based not only on marketing appeal. Another popular procedure is the well-known micronidling. We tell why young consumers are so fond of the effect of a needle massager.

How it started

Strictly speaking, the procedure, which involves piercing the skin with the finest needles, has been used for a very long time - it is more than fifty years old. Micronidling has much in common with mesotherapy: both are based on microtrauma and the subsequent delivery of active ingredients to the dermis. It sounds scary, but in reality the procedure is described as simple and painless. In addition, there are already clinical studies of the effects of micronidling, and the mechanism of the procedure meets the current wishes of cosmetologists and their clients. The latter are constantly looking for ways to deliver cosmetic compositions deeper than the upper layers of the epidermis - as a rule, this is an important condition for the effectiveness of the use of many creams, lotions and serums.

Surely many of you remember the viral photo of Kim Kardashian with a "vampire face": it was made in the process of micronidling (although in the case of Kim, her own blood was used additionally, hence the frightening appearance). The procedure is divided into several simple steps. After cleansing, a composition with the desired effect is applied to the skin - these can be means for eliminating inflammation and pigmentation, compositions with antioxidants and substances that stimulate collagen synthesis. Then - a massage with a mezoroller or dermapen (a “pen” with needles for a point effect on individual areas of the skin), after which the skin is cleansed once more.

Micronidling, therefore, is good for a variety of tasks, and the invasiveness of the procedure is so small that it can be carried out on skin with a wide variety of characteristics - even on thin and sensitive. According to the reviews, the painfulness of manipulations with needles, the length of which does not reach 1 mm, is not so high, and the droplets of blood protruding on the skin surface indicate that the perforation was successful; the punctures themselves disappear without a trace within a few hours or one day. It is not surprising that the interest in micronidling arose right now: a minimally invasive effect causes the skin much less harm compared to many other procedures, and it takes less than an hour to stay in the cosmetologist's office. In general, to decide and evaluate the subsequent effect is simple.

Why do we need it

The study of 2009 showed positive results in the elimination of atrophic scars (“recessed” in the skin of post-acne scars after smallpox) with the help of micronidling. 80% of thirty-seven patients saw a significant reduction in scars - a significant result. Microprocols themselves stimulate the processes of regeneration and the synthesis of their own collagen and, again, additionally serve as channels for the delivery of active ingredients to the deep layers of the skin.

Maya Allen, who described the effects of micronidling on Byrdie, noted those that meet current skin care expectations: after the procedure, it begins to "shine" (which is connected with the alignment of skin texture and tone), and the home base cream suddenly begins to moisturize the skin double force. If earlier such procedures, like most cosmetological effects, were almost always advertised and recommended as “anti-aging”, now it is obvious that the idea is not in magical rejuvenation, but in improving the quality of the skin - without age limits.

How to do it

Despite the fact that the mezoroller can be purchased for home use, it is better not to risk it: the procedure requires high-quality cleansing, sterility and careful movements. There are practically no contraindications due to minor trauma, but it is important that micronidling is not recommended on the skin during acute acne or the appearance of infectious foci due to the risk of more extensive infections - in this case it is better to wait for the inflammation to decrease. It is better to refuse powerful peelings and cleansing before the procedure, and then to minimize contact with the sun and not look into the pool and sauna. However, the rehabilitation period after micronidling ends the very next day. Today, micronidling is successfully combined not only with the use of cosmetics, but also with light therapy, which also shows good results in the treatment of acne.
