"Game of Thrones" distracts viewers from Pornhub
Last weekend came the final episode of the sixth season of "Game of thrones" - "Winter Winds". The authors of the series once again surprised the fans (some of the spectators even found confirmation of popular fan theories, but this is not the place for spoilers). Nearly nine million viewers watched the series in live broadcast, surpassing the record of the fifth season by 800 thousand. Surprisingly, the episode’s premiere had a significant impact on one of the most popular platforms on weekends - the largest porn resource Pornhub.
During the hour during which the "Winds of Winter" were broadcast, traffic from the US to Pornhub fell by 4%. In fact, this is an incredible amount when you consider that 60 million visitors come to the site per day, and most of them are residents of the United States. According to analysts from Pornhub, hundreds of thousands of Americans paused Sunday porn to turn on Game of Thrones.
But that's not all: according to Pornhub, after the release of the new series, the number of requests for porno episodes with specific characters increases dramatically. Naturally, Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister and John Snow were in the lead. Also on the site are gaining popularity erotic (yes, more erotic than the original) parodies of "Gay of Thrones" and "Game of Bones".
By the way, a similar situation was several months ago - the season premiere in April provoked about the same drop in traffic and a rather sharp increase in demand for thematic video.
