How to glue and wear false eyelashes

Text: Mila Bulatova and Masha Vorslav

False eyelashes came with cinema screens a little more than 60 years ago, but disputes about their relevance are underway to this day. Nevertheless, today the choice of eyelashes in the shops is huge, and there are very few sensible instructions for beginners. We asked the beauty blogger and fan of false eyelashes Mila Bulatov to compile a guide on their types, wear and care for this accessory.

What are eyelashes

There are three types of eyelashes: single, beam and tape. Single glue the longest, but with their help you can achieve the most natural effect. Beams revive a tired look, look natural, but require knowledge of the points of application, or rather, gluing. Ribbon can look both natural and dramatic, depending on the eyelashes themselves. Perhaps they are the easiest and fastest to use.

By the way, about bundles: they also differ from each other. The so-called nodular lashes at the base have, in fact, a knot. Unseelled, which includes "corners", are eyelashes on a dense and opaque basis. Ribbon eyelashes are also differently fastened. A flexible transparent base is needed to create the effect of natural eyelashes. But in most cases, the base tape is black, which allows us to add, as they say, dramas.

In addition, tape eyelashes are different in shape: there are very strange, but most often there are two classic options. Round shape with elongated eyelashes in the center of the eye and shorter at the edges are needed to achieve the effect of wide open eyes. Stretched to the temple, the so-called cat eye, with lengthening the eyelashes themselves to the outer ciliary edge, gives the eye an almond shape.

In addition to the layout, eyelashes differ in materials. The hairs are artificial, different brands have different softness, but the quality of the plastic does not greatly affect the appearance. That is, no one can discern the eye on which Essence bundles are glued, and on which MAC. Natural hair is also used different. The most popular lashes are from mink, but they are also made from horsehair. One of the most affordable brands in Russia with a large selection of different materials is RMLashes. Well, lashes like Paperself stand apart - as you can guess, out of paper.

How to glue and wear

Before you start using false eyelashes, you should prepare your own: give them an extra bend using a curler and paint over with an ink mascara (you can postpone the staining step until the last step). Eyelashes removed from the package should be attached to the natural line of eyelash growth. Depending on whether the eyelashes are large for the eye or just right, you can shorten the tape with scissors to the required size. It is important that you only need to cut from the outer edge, otherwise the eyelashes will be too long on the inner corner, which will prick the eyelid.

After that, you can glue: glue must be applied to the edge of the ciliary tape and wait from 20 to 45 seconds - this time is necessary for the glue to become sticky. Layfkhak: while the glue dries, you need to bend and unbend the eyelash in order for it to become flexible and the sock to be more comfortable. Apply the eyelash to the very edge of the upper eyelid, the eyelashes, starting with the outer corner. It is important that you do not need to glue on the roots of your eyelashes, so that after removing the overhead, you can count all the natural ones.

After gluing, it remains to hide the tape with an arrow using a liquid eyeliner (you can skip this step if you used eyelashes on a transparent tape). True, lately, makeup artists are addicted to the fact that they glue artificial eyelashes onto "bare" natural ones: the resulting contrast refreshes makeup.

If you prefer a classic, after gluing it is worth painting all the eyelashes in order to mix natural and overhead. Such a technique, in addition, allows you to additionally fix false eyelashes, and if you are not satisfied with the thickness of artificial eyelashes (for example, in bunches), you can paint over them only so that they look the same as natural ones.

How to choose glue and care for eyelashes

Glue for eyelashes can also be divided into two groups. The first is latex (a miniature glue that is put in a box with eyelashes, most often this). The second is the famous Duo and other silicone-based adhesives. Latex is easier to wash off the eyelashes, but be sure to check if you are allergic to latex. If there is, then silicone-based adhesives are your only option.

By the way, glue is also black, it helps to mask the gap between the natural eyelashes and glued skin and is not so visible if you forget to remove it from false eyelashes before another use. However, we are of the opinion that it is better not to be lazy and remove glue from the eyelashes after each use, but the situations are different, so here is a life hack.

Eyelashes can be removed from the eyes by simply pulling them to the outer edge. After you need to remove them from the particles of glue and can be stored in the box until the next time. Cleaning the glue is important because otherwise the base of the eyelashes will be thicker and thicker each time, which will impair both the appearance of the eyelashes and their ability to hold. In addition, if you paint artificial eyelashes, you also need to remove mascara from them. A familiar eye makeup remover is suitable, for example, a combination of oil and cleansing.

Eyelashes on the fishing line are the most durable, but they also have a fixed service life - no longer than six months with frequent use. Eyelashes on a dense basis become useless and just fall apart after two or three months of regular use. So, in general, even expensive eyelashes made from natural materials are quite a profitable investment, which will allow you to change your usual make-up without introducing alien aesthetics into it. At the same time, manufacturers like INGLOT and Paperself also make strange eyelashes that will appeal to those who like a strange make-up in a good sense.
