London Fashion Week: how it was, how it will be

Today London Fashion Week started - one of the most significant fashion events. Look At Me will share all the backstage and podium details, talk about new collections and show the backstage and guests of the shows.

This week is a jubilee, it will be held for the 25th time - it's time to remember what has happened over the years.

Under the pressure of the British Fashion Council, it was decided to combine countless exhibitions of fashion designers into a regular large-scale event. This is how the London Fashion Week appeared. The collection of the then unknown John Galliano - “absolutely stunning”, according to Browns buyer, Joan Burstein - was completely sold out. British Vogue dedicated 4 stripes to the designer.

The shows notice the political elite and the age-old aristocracy - Margaret Thatcher and Princess Diana.

Vivienne Westwood shows a collection replete with visual symbols that made her brand forever recognizable: gilded crowns, variations on the theme of the Scottish cage and impossibly tight corsets.

The spring-summer show of Jasper Conran opens up aspiring model Naomi Campbell (born, by the way, in London). In the same year, she appears on the cover of French Vogue, which instantly makes her a favorite of fashion gloss.

Alexander McQueen's debut collection conquered one and all - a British fashion-glossist began to praise the designer in unison, and Isabella Blow bought all the things.

Kate Moss supports the show graduation collection of Stella McCartney. It turns out that clothes can reveal the social position of the designer (as is well known, leather and fur have no place in McCartney's things) and be beautiful at the same time.

Matthew Williamson’s debut. The show was opened and closed by Kate Moss and Helena Christensen, which was a preventive measure against failure.

London designer Luella Bartley shows the collection “Daddy, I Want a Pony” - it seemed that it was not models who showed it, but students from private colleges who were dressed up for a punk concert. Fashion editors, buyers and stylists were unanimous - even before the final release, the guests of the show started shouting: “Luella, we want you!”

Hussein Chalayan shows a wooden table skirt. They begin to talk about fashion as the most important of visual arts.

Anna Wintour arrives at London Fashion Week, and fashion insiders at once cease to speak condescendingly of London Fashion Week.

In the first row of the show debut collection of Gareth Pugh sits Anna Wintour. It seemed that it was already impossible to surprise and make groan and gasp the fashion industry - Pugh proved that it was possible.

After displaying the first collection by Christopher Kane, a third of things went straight to the shooting in the British Vogue, the rest went to other fashion magazines, and Harrod's identified a whole rail to the designer.
