Geometry and space in the Cap Amerika collection

In the weekly heading "New Brand", Wonderzine presents young designers and tells where and how to buy their things. Our heroine this week is Olga Shurygina, who creates the Cap Amerika brand and prints images of the Moon and Mars on clothes.

Russian buyers hardly respond to a complex cut and intricate prints. The clothes of Muscovite Olga Shurygina are captivating with this. In her latest collection there are geometric dresses and jackets: the designer gave them the desired shape using a hygroscopic material. Shurygin is experimenting with galactic prints, but he does it wisely - he prints real photos of the Moon and Mars on jackets and sweatshirts, and not photos of Tumblr-like stars. The creation of these things was inspired by Cubist artists and space images in the culture of America and Russia. If the galactic theme performed by Cap Amerika did not convince you, look at the work of Olga with the gradient coloring of things. It looks fresh, especially considering that with a light hand of brands like Fendi and Proenza Schouler, gradient things will fill the stores only next season.

Shurygin studied at school with an artistic bias, was fond of architecture, computer graphics and costumes for the cinema, and then decided that she wanted to be a clothes designer. Like our previous heroine, Sasha Weider, the girl graduated from the clothing design department of the Moscow Art and Industry Institute. During her studies, she interned in two mass Russian stamps, and even worked as a leading designer in one of them. In the last year, Shurygina ousted her first integral collection and went with her to the finals of the Russian Silhouette. The winner will be announced only next autumn, but the competition is unlikely to make the weather in Shurygina’s work: she is already bought by one showroom after another.

I owe my latest collection to my institute. The story - as if from an adventure movie. I wrote a business plan and came with him to the rector, asked for financial support. Our conversation looked like business negotiations, and in the end I had the opportunity to sew things I dreamed about. The risk paid off: recently one store made a big purchase of my clothes. Now I want to assemble a team and do the brand professionally. Of course, an internship is a great experience, and I dream to work in the world-famous fashion house. Of course, I follow Russian colleagues because they are doing their work in our country. I am especially interested in young people. My favorites are Asiya Bareeva, Evgenia Kim, Lesia Paramonova and Sasha Veider. In general, I like the time in which we live. We have great opportunities, and there is a growing interest in Russia in the West.
