Beauty journalist Alina Smirnova about acne and favorite cosmetics
FOR RUBRIC "COSMETIC" we study the contents of beauty cases, dressing tables and cosmetic bags of interesting characters to us - and we show all this to you.
About acne
My trigger word is "acne." When I see comments in the style of "treat first, and then gloss over," I burst like a hamster. I have reactive skin since I was twelve or thirteen years old, and I tried everything: dermatologists and their talkers, diets, pharmacy care, cosmetology, and even laser — but the inflammation still sometimes comes back. I advise you to postpone the tonal and go to the doctor, in my opinion, only those whom this attack has bypassed.
The other day Kendall Jenner came under machine-gun fire of comments, on whose face - horror of horrors - traces of acne were found. Yes, not somewhere, but on the red carpet of the Golden Globe. I applied willpower and did not get involved in discussions, but I was upset: many people wrote on the Internet that “there is money, I could have treated”, “there would be less plaster”, “and this person sells cosmetics to us”. Although most acne sufferers do not control the presence or absence of inflammation, for some reason we rush to condemn them for improper care, inappropriate makeup and insolence to talk about their illness out loud. I dream of a day when going out without a concealer or raising this topic in conversation will be as normal as admitting to a headache or poor eyesight, but so far before it as before fair elections.
About work
Acne and led me to journalism. I worked in advertising when I decided to tackle the problem seriously. Beginning with the study of drugs and reviews of pharmaceutical creams, quietly subscribed to several beauty bloggers, bought the first lipstick - and now I am writing my first material about the components of mineral cosmetics. In order to get a permanent job, I had to work for a while on freelancing, to be a freelance newsman, and even to have a booth for thanks. Having collected my portfolio, I was finally able to call myself a beauty journalist and start earning money on it.
When people find out what I do, they immediately say: "How cool! You probably send a lot of cosmetics." In such cases, you have to explain that this is, after all, my work, and I often have to test something new instead of comfortably remarking my favorite tool. Sometimes cosmetics do not fit. One day, I had a terrible allergy to eye cream that left me a few weeks away. But I can legitimately spend a working day on my favorite sites or watching YouTube - this is definitely a plus.
About illustrations and makeup
In my free time I draw a lot. But to allocate an hour or two to the romp with pens and a sketchbook does not always work out. I found a way out for myself - in makeup. For me, this is a ritual and the opportunity to draw on myself, to think about colors and composition - just like on paper. Therefore, I don’t have any universal everyday make-up. Even sticking with one palette of shadows for seven days in a row is difficult for me.
Most of all I love colored pencils and eyeliners, shadows and lipstick - this junk I have a small warehouse. Recently, I paint my lips brown (he does not emphasize the traces of inflammation), and the eyelids - anything, just to shine. I love arrows very much - they help to pull out childish round eyes a little. I also have a point on couchons: someone thinks that they only provoke acne, but I did not notice this. The coolest, in my opinion, are made by Koreans: they cost less than an example, and their colors are lighter. I order refills on eBay and choose through r / AsianBeauty reviews.
About good habits
In the new year I promised myself to take care of my health: to undergo a medical examination, to register with a dentist, to begin to regularly visit a cosmetologist. In the spring I will be thirty years old, and although I do not consider this a revolutionary frontier, after which everything will change, some things should begin to pay more attention so as not to regret.
I would really like to start playing sports, but for that I need to like it - otherwise it will be easier to break down and quit. So far, pilates has been winning: last year I spent three or four months following the program of Casey Ho, the author of blogilates, and stopped only because of lack of time. I like Casey's approach: she constantly says that sport should be fun, and the purpose of training can not be just losing weight - then you quit as soon as you reach the right size. Where more productive to learn to do new things and expand the capabilities of your body. I confirm: when I was able to touch my forehead on my knees, the week was glowing with pride.
I do not plan to revise my diet, although it would be worth giving up a fifth cup of coffee a day. I love to cook and try to keep track of what I eat. And it's much easier to do when you put the products in the pan. Jamie Oliver argues that homemade food is the main tool in maintaining a stable weight, and I completely agree with him. Although even at home you can cook delicious (and very unhealthy) lasagna with meat, mountain of cheese and cream sauce - but these are already small joys, without which life would be much more dull.
