City Looks: London, Milan and Paris

The Street Muse blog is run by a young photographer Melanie Galea, who was born in Malta, lived in Turkey and eventually moved to Italy. The girl prefers to shoot in New York, London, Milan and Paris, and both models like Carly Kloss and Frida Gustavsson and passersby get into her lens. Look At Me asked Melanie how she created a blog and what it was like to shoot Fashion Weeks.

About hobby fashion and photography and creating a blog I have always been obsessed with fashion and photography. In 2008, after long work in the field of marketing and branding of luxury hotels, I took a chance and focused solely on fashion. I became a communications, public relations and Web 2.0 consultant. The Sartorialist Scott Schumann inspired me to create a blog: I liked the idea of publishing photos of stylish people. I decided to create a blog to share pictures of immaculately dressed, in my opinion, people. The Street Muse appeared in September 2010, then it was a hobby. But soon the success of the blog allowed me to make it a major job. The first months after the start of the blog were simply amazing and exceeded my expectations. The Street Muse began to attract attention, and for me it certainly was beneficial. I think it's time to professionally represent yourself and build relationships with brands. I would like to someday remove the advertising campaign. Now, thanks to the blog, I am reporting on Elle.com and Refinery29.com.

About filming Fashion weeks are very different from shooting everyday street style. Street style with Fashion Week took over part of the show business. During the show, the same people walk the streets for almost a month, and they realize that they will be photographed, or they want to. Stamps provide them with their new products, because they want their products to be noticed. So fashion becomes less unexpected. Every person with an iPhone, iPad or Reflex thinks that he can be a street-style blogger. But street photography for me is first of all not about quantity, but about quality. One beautiful picture will cause more resonance than fifty blurry photos. So during the Fashion Week, the camera is always in my hands. Each city in which I shot is special and unique. I feel like a real hunter. When photographing, I try to be relaxed and not plan anything. I love to just wander the streets in search of eye-catching people. I like to photograph people that nobody knows. Especially when traveling to different cities. Of the so-called Russian it-girls I love Miroslav Duma and Uliana Sergeenko.

About favorite trends This season, I am impressed by perfectly fitting coats, without which it is simply impossible to imagine a winter wardrobe. Long socks are a good alternative to classic body tights and a good way to completely change your bow. By the way, in the minus temperature of the glove - the girl's best friends. As for my personal style, I call it vintage-modern. A mixture of vintage with modern fashion I really like.

What is worth reading, watching and listening I am a fan of British and Mexican Elle, Spanish and Russian Vogue, Australian and Russian Harper's Bazaar. As for sites, I read Elle.com, Refinery29.com, Style.com and Net-a-porter.com. From blogs I love Garancedore.fr and Thecoveteur.com - these are two resources that gave me some ideas for filming. I advise you to watch the movie "Fall in love with me if you dare" with Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet. From music I prefer the 1950s, 60s and early 70s - these are my favorite decades.
