Running events not always designed exclusively for trained and experienced athletes. In addition to the classic marathon and half marathon (distances of 42 and 21 km) there are shorter runs, and there is usually plenty of time to finish: if you wish, you can walk the whole distance. For some, the race is a competition with oneself, for others it is a reason to fly to a new country or city, but almost always there are pleasant memories, a sense of pride and the opportunity to replenish a collection of T-shirts. We have chosen nine races in different countries, which will be held this year and for which it is not too late to enroll.
Russia, Kazan)
Distances: 3 km, 10 km, half marathon and marathon, May 21, 2017
Kazan is a large, green and friendly city with a white-stone Kremlin (part of the UNESCO heritage) and delicious food, and it’s only an hour and a half to fly from Moscow. A little more than two weeks remained before this event, and registering for long distances without proper preparation is not worth it, but even the most unsporting will master the three kilometer race - which is no reason to get to Kazan for the weekend. The cost of registration for 3 and 10 km is 800 and 1200 rubles.
France - Spain
Distance: 785 km, June 18-24, 2017
"Pilgrim Run" is suitable for those who have excellent endurance and an old dream to walk along the Camino de Compostela pilgrim road. A distance of almost eight hundred kilometers sounds scary, but in reality each member of a team of ten people will need to run from 9 to 18 kilometers a day. This is a serious journey, which will be hard, but the organizers promise not to forget about the cultural program: every evening the participants will be in the new city of Spain. The cost of participation - 600 euros, it includes accommodation in hotels, food throughout the run and the movement of those who are not currently running. You can sign up as a group or separately - in this case, you will meet your team on the spot.

Distances: half marathon and marathon, August 26, 2017
It seems that in the summer in the desert should be unbearably hot, but in fact in Petra - one of the oldest cities in the world - the temperature is expected to be around 25 ° C, summer, but not beyond. The race takes place on the territory of a huge archaeological park, allowing you to see the shelters and monasteries carved directly into the stone walls; those who decide on a full marathon, will visit places where tourists almost do not reach. However, due to restrictions in visiting Petra, organizing the trip on your own will not work - the marathon organizers offer a package for 900 euros with accommodation, permission to visit historical places (and excursions if you want) and, in fact, participation in the race.
Chile

The Patagonian Marathon is held in the province of tiltima Esperanza - “Last Hope”, in the very south of the American continent. Participants are awaited with stunning views of snow-capped mountains and as fresh air as possible - there are no office buildings or factories around, nor traffic roads. Registration for 10 kilometers costs about $ 85, for the half marathon - about $ 120. Perhaps this race will be an occasion to finally prepare for the trip for those who dreamed of visiting Patagonia, combining it with a cruise in the Antarctic.
France
Distance: Marathon, September 9, 2017
This is a real marathon, which is held in the French region of Medoc, famous as a winery. Registration costs 86 euros and is subject to a medical certificate - the requirements for it are described on the website. The number of participants is limited to 8500 - this is quite a few, and at the end of the race they are waited for solemn dinners, a ball and a recovery walk the next day. And, of course, the main feature of this marathon in the vineyards is that French red wine will be added to the standard set of water and energy bars so that the runners can refresh themselves.

In the Moscow Marathon, those who move in a wheelchair can take part for free, and there is also the option of a corporate relay - for this, the team must register at the same time, paying 160 thousand rubles. For individual participants, everything is much more accessible - 1000 rubles for registration for 10 kilometers. Judging by the site of the marathon, the organizers position it rather as a serious sporting, rather than entertaining event - but this does not mean that it will not be possible to enjoy the race on the streets of central Moscow blocked for cars.
USA
Distances: 5 km, half marathon, October 1, 2017
Diva's half-marathon series is exclusively women's races that take place every month in different US cities - and we chose the one that will be held in New York. Here you can forget about the seriousness and have a good time from the heart: when registering, participants are given not only numbers and T-shirts, but also bright pink packs, and at the finish line they pour champagne. The medals will be received by everyone who finishes, including those who have run a distance of 5 kilometers - and medals are not simple, but with removable pendants for Pandora bracelets. Registration costs $ 50 for a short distance and $ 95 for a half marathon.
Turkey
Distances: 8, 10, 15 km, marathon, November 12, 2017
Istanbul is the only city in the world located simultaneously in Asia and Europe, and the Istanbul Marathon is the only day of the year when the Bosphorus Bridge between these parts of the world can be crossed on its feet. Commemorative medals in this event are given to those who finished in the 10 and 15 km races - it's nice if you want to somehow fix your achievement, but you are not ready for the half marathon. This is probably one of the most economical races: registration for a ten-kilometer distance costs about ten euros, and finding a cheap hotel in Istanbul is not a problem. Russians still do not need a visa to Turkey.
Jamaica
Distances: 10 km, half marathon and marathon, December 2, 2017
At home of Bob Marley and Usain Bolt, the theme of the marathon is predictably chosen reggae - and the music will accompany the runners throughout the course. The official rules say that any of the distances you can run, walk, or alternate a step with a run. Unlike many other races, the lower age bar for a distance of 10 km is 10 years, so those who have children of the appropriate age can participate with the whole family. And, of course, Jamaica in December is an opportunity to briefly escape from winter to summer.
