Film critic Yulya Gulian about favorite cosmetics

FOR THE FACE "HEAD" we study the contents of beauty cases, dressing tables and cosmetic bags of interesting characters to us - and we show all this to you.

About appearance and makeup

I work in a film company, with a “naked” face you today or with crimson smocks - we don’t have a dress code, everyone is different, and everyone accepts everyone - in my opinion, fine. I usually have a long day: after work you go to either premieres or somewhere else, you disappear at festivals at meetings and in cinema halls from morning to night (and only a stone doesn’t shed a tear), therefore the persistence of makeup is super important. The tone of the last few years is MAC Matchmaster, the most resistant pencils are MAC kayals, liquid liners are from Urban Decay and MUFE. I really like shining textures - with the right highlighter, the face is always more rested and alive.

It quickly became clear how to make up to look like a-only-better. But for me the same makeup - it's like wearing a uniform: boring, albeit win-win. I remember how one of the consultants in the New York MAC to my question, which shadows would suit me better, said: "What do you mean, what? Yes, any!" And this is the liberating power of make-up: your face is like a clean sheet, and it is a pity to follow only the mimetic tradition of embellishment, when avant-gardists painted on the skin a hundred years ago the devil knows that in the fight against organic face design. Just as the clothes are not obliged to repeat all the contours of the body, so the make-up is not obliged to repeat the natural lines of the face. Of course, I like the cool no make up make up, but I also like it when the gap between the face and the makeup flickers, whether it is overgrown with undyed hair roots or eyeliner lagging behind the eyelash growth line.

Sorry, Roland Barth did not write about semiotics make-up. For me, makeup, like clothing, is a whole language system, and, of course, they can reflect the internal state, and they can also create it. The lion's share of my experiments falls on the eyes: colored arrows, glitter, confetti, multi-colored Smokey. Lips are usually left neutral or I can put on a matte bright lipstick, as in the photo.

About hair

I do not know how to style my hair. As a child, I was cut short, and now all the good masters cut their hair so that they themselves beautifully lay. All curly know these life hacking: comb hair only wet, do not blow dry, use masks instead of conditioner. My favorite is Lush Blondie, she adds a cool sheen. Every six months, I lighten random locks — in my salon they call it shatush — and so that the color does not change, I make an Olaplex mask, no instant wow effect from it, but the color really remains. I like to wash my hair every day. Contrary to the warnings, the hair has not fallen out yet, although I have been doing this for the last ten years.

About sport

I am indifferent to alcohol, I do not even know how to smoke, I am bored lying on the beach. But I sleep a little, and most importantly my guilty pleasure is sweet. Last year I went through the sektaschool in absentia, and although this hardly led to external changes (I was always engaged in sports), I gained strength and fine shaken up my relationship with myself: I stopped craving for sweets in any incomprehensible situation, giving myself indulgence in training and at the same time, reproach yourself for passes (and a piece of Napoleon, too). Now I try to do at least five hours a week, I go to regular fitness at my place of residence, and there I choose any group classes from those coaches who inspire. If you search a little, then a power trainer will lead you to a movie fan who puts on soundtracks from movies, dancing is a fan of Bob Foss, and yoga is just a cool girl who will playfully put you on your head.

About care and cosmetology

In my home care there is nothing special: cleansing, toning, moisturizing. These are mainly pharmacy brands or Kiehl's. I believe in professional cosmetic procedures and new technologies. Lasers, peels - all this brings so much more tangible results compared to the natural, bio and time-tested, which is even offensive. Every six months, I do biorevitalization, a couple of years ago I was tired of struggling with facial wrinkles on my forehead, I started working on Botox, and the habit of unconsciously wincing disappeared, although of course I can still raise my eyebrows or frown if desired. Yes, it would be possible to "just watch your facial expressions," but what could be more boring?

In general, it always seemed to me that if radical measures make a person happier or free up time for things more interesting, then why not resort to them? Even if someone wanted a completely different person - why not change it, as technology allows? I think it will soon surprise no more than a radical change in hair.
