"Naadya" about his new single and independent Russian music

In this issue, vocalist of the Moremoney group with the solo project "Naadya" Nadezhda Gritskevich, who today released a new single "HHS", and in the evening will perform in Dewar's Powerhouse.
I am a journalist by education, but now I do not work in my specialty. Most of the time I do music, sometimes some translations fall out. A couple of years ago I was very fascinated with making jewelry made of silver - all my life I dreamed of doing this, but I was afraid and lazy. Now sometimes I make jewelry for myself or for friends, so far at a very amateur level, but I still do something with my own hands with little comparable pleasure. I especially love the polishing stage of the finished product.
The song "HHS" about what is necessary to treat all the failures in life calmly, with a cold heart. Because an oak is a tree, a sparrow is a bird, and death is inevitable. To worry about a break or unfulfilled relationship is a poor investment of power. It is a pity that this understanding comes after 25. But in general, this message can be applied more or less to all areas of activity: it did not work out - and it’s fine. I think the main thing is not to stop and do as much as possible. To err is also very important. There is a good video on this topic, which should be viewed by all those involved in creative work. In it, Ira Glass, in her unique manner, speaks of the problem that many people face - the discrepancy between what you do and your taste. And he nails it.
We had a single at night in the studio, which is located at the Electrozavod. The original access system is there - you can enter the night shift only until eleven in the evening, and after that nobody is allowed in. Since I ambitiously decided that we would keep the song in a couple of hours, we didn’t take either food or water with us. Naturally, as soon as we opened the file, it became clear that it would not be limited to a couple of hours. As a result, we were wandering along the quiet corridors of the Electrozavod in search of automatic food machines. We saw a room with a punching bag and horizontal bars, a toilet with a broken wall, a shop with some kind of stoves, a cat, and very, very much impulsive modern art: zombies in a kokoshnik, deer on human legs, various caliber evil mouths, crosses and threats. Of course, there was a horse mask. Most of all for some reason, I was mocked by an old Soviet hand-drying device, on which someone neatly wrote "KORG".
I myself do not always like what I do. But I understand that this is all due to lack of experience. I am learning from other musicians, everything is interesting to me. I am one of those who sneaks into the front row before the start of the set, not to dance, but to see which lotions lie on the stage, and then these lotions are loudly discussed. I like to find out what synthesizers they play on, and then listen to them on the Internet. Well, another amateurish.
I don’t want to compare domestic artists with foreign artists again, but I’ll have to, because if we talk about the very culture of a live performance by a musician, communication with the audience, the connection itself, then Russian groups are losing much. Performance is therefore called performance - this is the same artistic act as the composition of music. The great success of some Russian indie groups is due to the fact that they managed to master this element. I say, of course, about On-The-Go, Pompeya, Tesla Boy, Motorama and NRKTK. I hope this list will be available soon. No, I do not mean our group, I just support Russia.
I do not like to put points, probably, it is in my character. I just have a sea of unfinished projects, songs without choruses, melodies without songs, a ring without stones — all in one pile. I believe that in one moment magic power will help me to finish everything. I really liked the quote of the jeweler Warwick Freeman: "In the workshop there is always room for material in search of an idea or an idea in search of material." In English, it sounded better: "Sometimes it's a matter of looking for a material." Sooner or later they will be reunited and art will triumph.
I often write different people about my songs. This may be, for example, a thirteen-year-old girl, or maybe a forty-year-old man. They all find something in our music, and this is both amazing and beautiful. The Internet allows you to face your listener before you see him at a concert. Well, "Vkontakte" just a world without borders. Recently, a young man wrote to me that in vain I was so fixated on the subject of hell. What, they say, he was in a coma and there is no hell, and there is nothing at all. And there is nothing to add.
Each person creates a certain image of himself on the Internet and supports this tender place in which the desired takes precedence over the real. I love editable reality. In her, I am kind and sweet. And in real life I can both cheat and deadline, I can not answer calls if I don’t want to.
I can not be offended or angry at people who do not like my music - I feel sorry for it
Parents have an idealized idea of their child, mine, for example, often say to me: "You were such a cheerful girl." And now they listen to my songs and wonder how a cheerful girl turned into a brooding sad girl. My parents always and in everything supported my brother and I turned out! When I say “always supported”, I don’t mean that they admired our every action. Our family has always valued healthy criticism. Roughly speaking, not every drawing got on the fridge. This continues to a certain extent now. For example, when our first live single "Pirates" was released, I traditionally sent a video to my mother. A day later called. Mom was very strong, and then said that, in her opinion, this is not my best song. I took it with dignity - and we no longer speak (actually, no).
Until recently, in the process of working on music, I did not encounter women at all. Now, however, I regularly encounter our guitarist Masha Teryayeva. She is my true friend and companion, we have with her almost complete understanding and a pleasant idyll. Masha is one of those girls who, if something happens, will give the offender in the face without thinking. When she meets me, I play "Eye Of The Tiger" in my head. I encountered a lot of women on the set of the Carol Of The Bells Christmas single. Nina Karlsson, Yana Blinder, Katya Shilonosova, Tina Manysheva, Miriam Sekhon and Yana Chekina took part in the recording. Rita, my friend and manager, was very worried that we would devour each other, but in the end we joked all the time and then another day I had a mouthful of laughter.
I can not be offended or angry at people who do not like my music - I feel sorry for it. I am surprised, for example, by the aggressive perception of music, when someone says: "I hate Russian rap." Seriously? Well, just hate? Like Russian Rap killed your children and burned your house. Or when someone deliberately finds your page on the Internet in order to inform you, you personally, that your music is shit, or that you have small tits. Well, I do not. I do not buy this. Every day there are new groups, and very cool groups. I always rejoice when I find a good song - this is how to find an amazingly delicious cake that you eat and not get fat. One of the advantages is that you feel involved in the success of a truly talented musician, whom he began to listen to when he was only a "promising one." Last year, on James Blake’s set on Primavera, I experienced something close to catharsis: we stood in a crowd of thousands of people, wrapped in some kind of incredible deep bass, and when everyone screamed “Saddenly am hit,” I almost felt sick. It was a blessing.
