People about the city: How people live who change the city

Some people boil with energy and are ready to put their ideas into life without excuses, right here and now. They infect with their love for life, for the things that surround them, and for the city in which they change something every day. In the framework of the joint project New Balance and Wonderzine, we talked with such people, found out what inspires them in their beloved city, how they change it daily and change themselves. We walked with Olga Malysheva, the creator of the healthy lifestyle project Salatshop.ru and the co-founder of 365 detox, and Snezhana Yezhkova, the dancer, co-founder of the project Matryoshki in Jazz.

At some point, acquaintances began to increasingly ask questions about my diet, how and what to cook, where you can learn more information. I read a lot of literature on the topic of nutrition, talked with a variety of specialists, studied alternative ways of treating those diseases that my family faced. Over time, a sufficiently large amount of knowledge was accumulated, and I began to share the best of it on the blog Salatshop.ru. At first, 20-30 of my acquaintances read it, and now he has grown into one of the most popular healthy lifestyle websites in Russia. I began to regularly hold lectures and corporate seminars on the topic of nutrition and detox, and for those who do not have the opportunity to attend seminars in Moscow, I developed two online detox programs Detoxweek.ru, which were already passed by over a thousand people from different cities of the world.

From the very beginning, I tried to talk about my lifestyle without moralizing and fanaticism. Also, I always refuse to advertise those products and care products that I do not use myself. I have the most honest dialogue with my readers. And another important factor is the visual component of Salatshop.ru, where my husband helps me from the very beginning.

365 detox

365 detox was a logical continuation of Salatshop. I have been carrying this idea for about three years, I studied analogues in New York and in August 2014 we finally started. The flagship 365 detox in Tsvetnoy was the first such project in Russia. This year we opened two more points of our own - in the Metropolis and Lotte Plaza shopping centers. In addition to our points, we deliver 365 detox drinks and snacks to organic and healthy food stores, to fitness clubs, yoga studios and beauty salons - more than ten Moscow locations. We ourselves began to produce everything that I myself lacked in Moscow. Now we have in the assortment of 15 types of juices, smoothies and lemonades, four types of candy, several types of bread and nut bars. There is also the most delicious chocolate paste, which is prepared without refined sugar, only from whole herbal ingredients. We have released our detox oil for body care and are planning to develop a line of natural care products.

In fact, 365 detox is the materialization of what I’ve talked about in the Salatshop blog for several years. In addition to my team, there are two more major managers and co-founders - Maria Akashkina and my husband Andrei Zubrilov. Each of the three of us is passionate about the ideas of healthy eating, vegetarianism and detox. I was very lucky to be in a team of like-minded people. We have many plans for the development of the product range and the project itself - for the next ten years, there will be enough ideas!

There are a lot of energy and opportunities here, it can hardly be boring here. The main thing is to do your favorite thing, to do it sincerely and not to grumble about the shortcomings, but try to improve or “fix” these weak points.

About city

My parents and I were born in Moscow, my relatives and friends live here. Memories are associated with every street. For me there is no city dearer. Leaving somewhere more than a week, always happy to come back. I am very glad to all the changes that are happening now in Moscow. In the eyes of transformed streets, boulevards, parks and entire areas. Such places as the renovated Krymskaya Embankment or Gorky Park after reconstruction are very inspiring. And such a project as the Tsvetnoy department store is also a unique phenomenon for Moscow, the atmosphere here is different from any shopping center, and I am very glad that the flagship 365 detox is located here.

Everything that I do, I do for people just like me. I want to bring some benefit to my city, and I am really happy that I have the opportunity to popularize the idea of a healthy diet and lifestyle in Moscow. Most of all in the city I like people with whom I was lucky to work together, make friends and communicate. There are a lot of energy and opportunities here, it can hardly be boring here. The main thing is to do what you love, to do it sincerely and not to grumble about the shortcomings, but try to improve or fix these weak points.

How it all began

Passion for dancing began with music videos, the Wade Robson show on MTV and the film “Honey” with Jessica Alba. My friend Alesia and I, who are now dancing with me in the same project, learned all the movements from the TV. And suddenly they learned that there is such a dance direction - breaking. And so began the immersion in professional dances: we trained with the local biboy team, and then there were hip-hop, one-time classes in Moscow, French workshops and endless videos, copying. At that time everyone was learning from the video.

I tried different styles, a little bit of everything: locking, popping, contemporary, modern, west african, tap dance, UK jazz fusion. But my main and favorite style is house dance, I love this music, movement and speed. Now dance for me is both professional activity, and leisure, and work, and entertainment, the ability to express oneself and travel. Dance is morning, afternoon, evening and night, my whole life.

Matryoshki in jazz

Matryoshki in Jazz is a dance project created by me, Alesya Dobysh, Marina Pravkina and Elena Tatarenkova - professional dancers of street styles.

We are united by common views on life and a deep approach to everything we do. We want to express love for dance, music, travel. We have no leader, all ideas are significant, and friendship comes first.

We have a lot of joint projects. We are making a party "Evening improvisation" with a special concept that combines the work of jazz musicians and dancers. This party was organized for our birthday, but ultimately turned into an annual event that combines jazz aesthetics and freedom of improvisation. We invite DJs who play jazz, swing, nu-jazz, young jazz musicians to the party, and dancers are invited to improvise and just feel the music. The highlight of the program is the competition between musicians and dancers.

We also conduct an online magazine in which we talk about top dancers from around the world, about musicians, about style, about the body, about what inspires us. We also organize Home Market, which combines a party where everyone can share their talents, sell unique things that were brought from different countries and carefully selected for the market, an exhibition of young artists and public talk with musicians and dancers. We constantly travel and give our master classes everywhere, participate in dance battles or judge them.

People watched fascinated, and in the finale everyone just screamed and applauded

An important part of our business is the intense Crazy Week. It consists of our master classes in house dance and jazz fusion dance. There we invite teachers in other styles. We often participate in theater productions or festivals. On stage, we tell our story of jazz dance and write its modern sequel, weaving in motifs from other art trends.

The most memorable event lately is a performance with staging in the theater of Amsterdam Stadtschauburg. Still goosebumps from the memories! There is a theatrical part of the Theater Night, where the organizers invite different teams. We were invited by John Agesilas, who has been following us for a long time. We did a little performance for six minutes. Of course, at first there was excitement, but we already know how to deal with it. And at the very moment of the performance there was a crazy, special atmosphere, incredible sensations appeared. You dance on stage, do what is close to you, and not what someone said to you: you put it yourself, you explore it yourself, you carry the idea yourself! The people watched, fascinated, and in the finale everyone just screamed and applauded. The process of creation itself is cool, and the reaction of people is what it is worth doing all the productions. In many ways, this is happening so cool, because with me my girls and we are on the same wavelength.

About inspiration

Starting from September, I plan to start new projects that are still being finalized. While I search for music, collect it, study and travel, most often with dances. Learn Dutch.

Now in Moscow is the perfect time to create and create new things. Moscow is developing, there are new places and platforms for the realization of our plans - this is wonderful. Since the participant Matryoshki in Jazz often travels separately from each other with classes, judging, when we get together in Moscow, this city turns into a “laboratory place” for us. We discuss ideas in a cafe and go to the hall to embody everything invented.
