What to wear in spring: Stylist tips
WE DISPERSED STYLISTS WHICH TRENDS WILL BE ACTUALLY in the next few months. We tell how to adapt them to the Russian climate, what seasonal things to pay attention to and what to follow when choosing clothes for spring.
For me, one of the most interesting moments in the collections of spring-2018 is "naked" dresses and transparent clothes. They can be considered a kind of reflection of time, despite the fact that the tendency flashes on the podium is not the first time. In the 90s there was a reductionist approach, in the zero - frank sexuality, but today transparent dresses seem to speak for their owners: "I am myself. As it is."
Transparent clothes can be found in both young and classy Eckhaus Latta with Jacquemus, as well as in the "classics" Jil Sander, Paco Rabanne and Calvin Klein. Completely different collections and silhouettes, but the “naked” dress is somehow represented in each of them. Or, if you prefer, see-through pants and blouses, like those of Adam Selman and Louis Vuitton.
Deprived of deliberately sexual overtones, relaxed silhouettes do not cause boudoir associations. Such things you want to wear a hot summer day after swimming in the river or the sea. Given the local climate, we can only dream of swimming, so all that remains is to throw over our favorite down jacket and continue to dream.
The theme of the 90s is a common thread in the main collections of the season: here you will find logomania, denim in all variations, favorite sportswear, and things of exaggerated volumes. Favorite silhouette of spring - volume top with bicycles or leggings (as the weather allows). It could be an anorak, a simple sporty bright-colored windbreaker, or a camouflage bomber jacket — whatever. The most successful examples of these combinations can be found in the collections of Martine Rose, Vetements, Off-White and Heron Preston.
The title of a truly indispensable accessory gets a belt bag - easy and convenient. See how the same Martin Rose offers to literally plug these bags into the belt. If “just” is not your option, feel free to invest in vinyl and plastic accessories and shoes. Off-White x Jimmy Choo “in bag” shoes are not only very beautiful, but also practical.
If you have nothing to hide, you can look at a transparent bag or backpack. Our customers have long had their eye on plastic Raf Simons models in collaboration with Eastpak, which the designer showed last summer in New York Chinatown. The perfect compromise is a bag created by Heron Preston and Virgil Ablo. Inside the transparent design - voluminous clutch of leather. All content can be simply divided between them.
Of the dozens of sneaker releases this spring, I advise you to pay attention to the Vetements x Reebok sneakers, the most comfortable among your kind.
I am very glad that the minimalism of the 90s and the "male" cut are still with us. In my understanding, stylish spring wardrobe is straight blue jeans, a shirt with a sharp collar like Acne Studios, a trouser suit (Jil Sander, for example), a large beige trench coat with rolled up sleeves and an emphasis on the waist.
Such thoughtful minimalism is an ideal base for massive earrings (for inspiration or purchase, you can turn to Céline), avosek, straw bag-baskets and white shoes, which remain relevant in the new season. All of these hits can now be found in the mass market, and the brands are more expensive.
For me, one of the most beloved trends of this spring is pastel colors. Many brands have chosen for the collections of pink, peach, sky blue, lemon. Beautiful examples can be found at Y / Project, Nina Ricci, Loewe and Topshop Unique. Russian brands also have decent options, such as osome2some, I AM Studio and Walk of Shame. I believe that there is nothing better after a long cold winter than changing everything black and gray to the colors of gum and cakes.
And this spring you can dress up like a cowboy and still be fashionable. The western theme has appeared in many collections: for example, Versace and R13. Of course, the main reference is the Calvin Klein show. My all-time favorite is white total bow with Cossacks. First, it does not look theatrical. Secondly, it is easy to assemble an alternative bow in a second or mass market. Thirdly, it's just beautiful.
Spring is a good time for dresses. It is a lot of options: with a flower print, satin, pass, transparent, with a fringe or spangles. Another very popular thing this spring will be all kinds of shorts. They can be worn with romantic blouses and a vest, like a Louis Vuitton, or with a leather jacket following the example of Off-White and with boots like those of Y / Project.
I hope the spring will finally return the sun and you can wear sunglasses. Look for the most beautiful from Georgian designer George Keburia and Off-White. Mass market is also not lagging behind, however, cheap glasses are unlikely to protect from sun rays - but the decorative function will be perfectly fulfilled.
This spring (although it is still difficult to call this weather in spring), I want to wear everything bright - I am tired of grayness. I look forward to testing the trend on crayon colors, that is, things of shades of colored pencils. The most interesting are the contrasting combinations: pink and yellow, orange and blue. Examples on the podium: MSGM, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Aalto. Another trend is pastel. The most popular, in my opinion, will be green in all shades.
Which spring designers are inspired by the classic trench and remake it in their own way. I like the option with bright inserts, as in the MSGM show. It is a pity that with our climate, a trench coat is already more summer clothing. While not so warm, I choose a coat. This time I think to buy a classic beige candy-pink.
Denim again in the move, now rather dark shades. An example of total onions can be peeped from Dior: the jacket, jeans and even the beret on the show were from this material. One of my favorite trends is logomania, hello zero! Now it’s not a shame to wear a T-shirt with a brand name (for example, Versace) or pajamas in logos (like in Bally).
Silk and satin are suitable for warm season fabrics: there were many things on the podium with a brilliant texture. For example, Roksanda, Vivetta, Peter Pilotto, Gucci. For outlets (although I like to embed such things in everyday wardrobe) feathers and fringe are suitable. Nina Ricci, Calvin Klein, Loewe had a lot of them this season. And also sequins - they are not with us for the first time, but now designers suggest wearing them during the daytime, in combination with simple things. Shorts will also be popular, from classic, similar to costume, to tight, knee-length. The most interesting example of styling - bicycles with a silk dress, this is not an ordinary combination can be seen at the Sportmax show.
As for the shoes, everyone, of course, remembers the crocs. But how relevant are they in everyday life? Take a closer look at the shoes with a small heel or “ugly” sneakers with a massive sole - this is exactly the hit of the next season. I like transparent plastic bags. There are good options in the affordable Mango - just like the season, while it is fashionable. Must-have among accessories - narrow glasses from the 90s.
