Travel Ideas: Unusual beaches of the world

The travel season is in full swing, but even if you are not going anywhere yet, nothing prevents you from dreaming and making plans for the future. We talk about several beaches where one really wants to get sooner or later - so spectacular that even opponents of a beach holiday cannot stand before them.

Some species of plankton in the course of evolution have developed the ability to glow in the dark. They do this to distract the fish or enter them into a stupor of surprise - the same thing happens with people. When such plankton is washed ashore, the whole beach begins to glow. You can look at it in the Maldives. There, the season of luminous beaches lasts from July to February, and it is best to come in the period of the new moon: in the darkest nights the spectacle will be the most impressive. The beaches shine on all the atolls of the country, but it is best to go to the eastern islands of the archipelago.

There are a lot of black volcanic beaches on earth, but Vik, the southernmost point of Iceland, deserves to be marked in a special way. The sand here consists of a deep black basaltic rock, and the beach itself is surrounded by rocks of strangely pointed shape of the same origin (according to Icelandic legends, they were once trolls). You can also see colonies of dead ends there, but it is better to be careful: the Katla volcano is located in the region, which has not erupted for more than 100 years - and this may mean that it may soon become more active.

Icelandic dead ends are very good, but now imagine the penguins on the beach, and even the South African ones. Boulders Beach is located near Cape Town - in Table Mountain National Park - and surrounded by granite rocks of fancy shapes. Despite the fact that human settlements are not so far away, rare penguins can be seen there. A colony of several thousand birds are the descendants of only two pairs of penguins that were brought here in the 1980s. In general, to look at almost the most charismatic birds of the world, you can not go to Antarctica. Moreover, having traveled only a few hundred kilometers, you can also look at typical African fauna.

200 kilometers from Auckland, New Zealand, is the beach of Hot Water. It is so called because of the hot springs that are located right near the coast. There goes a lot of tourists and locals, whose favorite occupation is to dig holes in the sand. Into these holes water begins to seep at a temperature of up to 64 degrees, so that a natural bath is obtained, and overlooking the ocean. True, in sea water there is better not to swim because of the strong current, which is quite capable of carrying away a swimmer: there were also victims.

On the island of Saint-Martin, part of the Dutch province of Sint Maarten, which, however, is located not in Europe, but in the Caribbean region, there is the Maho beach, which is worth a visit for all lovers of civil aviation. Directly near the beach is the international airport Princess Juliana, which connects the island with the rest of the world. Because of this, airplanes fly near the beach at a surprisingly small height. This made Maho one of the most photogenic beaches in the world, where, however, you should take care of your safety. In certain places, the airflows from the turbines of airplanes can blow people into the sea, so a fence was installed around the runway, due to which it is not so easy to get close to the equipment.

Those who do not like the beach with airplanes, can escape from the technological modern world in the company of wild pigs inhabiting the uninhabited (people) reef of Big Major. Pigs were brought to the island by sailors sailing past the ship, who thought to return for them, then to cook and eat. This did not happen, and pigs, meanwhile, began to actively reproduce due to the fact that ships often dumped excess food into the water. The island has fresh water sources and no predators, so nothing threatens the pigs. They love to swim in the clear sea water along with tourists - which is much more interesting than swimming on a banana. True, to be here alone with the pigs will not succeed: the popularity of the beach added and loved by many "pig" instagram with 250 thousand subscribers.

Approximately 80 km from the city of Santa Rosa in California is located, perhaps, one of the strangest beaches in the world. The shore is dotted with formations in the form of spheres that resemble bowling balls. Rock formations have an ideal shape and are arranged in perfect rows. This form they found due to millennia of erosion caused by the waves of the Pacific Ocean.
