The best of the year: Anton Dolin advises everything except the movie

2015 IS FITTING THE END. It would not be an exaggeration to say that the year turned out to be saturated, including culturally. To dot the “and” and make sure that nothing important had passed by, we asked experts in various fields to tell about the brightest books, films, albums and other cultural events. In the fifth issue, film critic Anton Dolin makes it clear that he can no longer talk and write about cinema, and advises something else.

They expect me to recommend a new movie, but I will not. Firstly, he promised to do it for Poster, and secondly, he was tired. It seems to me that closing in on cinema is death for the mind (film-critical, at least). Therefore, it is better to list the most important cultural events of the year, for me personally.

The performances of the year are the enchanting Pushkin Tales at the Theater of Nations (Bob Wilson puts on in Moscow! I don’t dream?), The poetic Bogomolov Musketeers at the Moscow Art Theater (it turned out he is not only a director, but also a first-class playwright) and energetically tragic in Russia live well "Serebrennikov in the" Gogol Center. " Opera of the Year - "Parsifal" by Barenboim-Chernyakov in Berlin. My personal grail. The ballet of the year - finally looked at the "Lost Illusions" of Desyatnikov-Ratmansky at the Bolshoi. This is the music of the year. It has not yet been recorded, it is a shame and a shame for all of us. The concert of the year - King Crimson in the Paris "Olympia", a great concert hall: three drum sets in the front stage - I did not hear anything steeper (this year).

The art of the year is undoubtedly the burning door of the KGB of Peter Pavlensky. Although the exhibition of Ai Weiwei at the Royal Academy in London was also incredibly beautiful. Literature - a lot, from the "Submission of" Welbeck, read immediately after the massacre in the editorial "Charlie Hebdo", before the recent discovery - by me, smart people read it fifteen years ago - the prose of Sebald, his "Austerlitz". Still, the book of the year, for a combination of reasons, Svetlana Alexievich's Voices of Utopia. I recommend to all doubters all five books in a row. Potent art.

And also my eldest son (13 years old) played the main role in the play by Moliere and in the amateur mockuitive about the man-horse, and the younger one (5 years) read Oscar Wilde and Isaac Bashevis-Singer himself. I'm proud. I just released two new books, plus another with my own afterword. Well, also something.
